One fine day, my colleague said to me:
"Thi, we have a meeting with that German colleague today. But he’s super cold — never smiles, never chats."

I was surprised: “Really? Every time I see him, he always says hi and talks to me!”

He didn’t believe it. So I made a bet:
“If he walks into the room and smiles, you owe me a book!” 😏

He laughed: “If you pull that off, you can pick any book!”

The person walked in — I greeted him in German and threw in a funny idiom — and he smiled right away 😄
My colleague stared in shock.

After the meeting, he told our boss:
“I think I need to start learning German…”
I just smiled and sent him the Amazon link to the book to help him fulfill his promise.😎📚

🎥 My boss quit, so I bought a book to redesign my life 😅
In Germany, I had a really great manager – someone who helped me plan my career development and even supported my learning.
Then one day… he announced he was leaving! I was completely shocked: “What now? What will the new boss be like?”
I figured I couldn’t be the only one in this situation, so I went looking for answers… and found “Designing Your Life.”
While I was still reading, another shocking update came – my boss returned 😄
I said, “You quit, so I had to buy a book to redesign my life. Now that you’re back, please reimburse me!”
He laughed out loud… but I still haven’t seen the money 😜

I started my working student role in Germany in June 2020. As my 1-year anniversary approached, I messaged my department head to organize a fun game with a prize. She loved the idea! On the big day, she surprised me with a homemade cake featuring a giant "1"

When our manager walked by, he joked, "Thi gets a cake after 1 year, what do I get after 12 years?"

My boss replied, "Thi gets a cake after 1 year, you get one M&M each year for 12 years."

The whole room burst into laughter! That’s what I call “Diamond cuts diamond” 💎

Probation in Germany usually lasts between 3 to 6 months. At my company, it was 6. I checked the process and saw an evaluation form. Since my manager was quite busy, I took the form, filled it out myself and wrote a review about my performance before handing it over for approval.

My manager was happy that I had taken care of everything, but still had one question:
💼 Manager: How did you know you passed probation to fill out the form yourself?
😎 Me: Well, if I hadn’t passed, I wouldn’t still be sitting here!

The manager laughed and signed it! And just like that… probation passed! 😂
