February 18, 1904, Charles Young and Ada Mills were married in Oakland, California.

The wedding ceremony was held at Ms. Ada Mills Aunt’s home. The wedding was officiated by Reverend Otho E. Jones of the First AME Church of Oakland. Some of Charles’s Ninth Cavalry enlisted troopers were present as witnesses along with family members of the bride. There were no fellow officers present at the ceremony. The Young’s maintained a strong connection to Northern California even after they departed the Presidio. They purchased and maintained property in the area in addition to Mrs. Young’s family ties.
