I was very excited to offer a lecture at University College of London for their "Designing Audio Experiences: Art, Science and Production MA".
In my lecture "Sound applied to human transformation", I offered a conceptual lens for students to look at sound in a new way; a way that adds depth and opens the view to the mystery of sound which is often missing in music and audio studies.
Coming from a background as a musician, music producer and sound designer, I have been profoundly changed by my delving deep into the many layers of sound and its therapeutic quality.
Being able to pass on even a fraction of my experience to the young students who attended felt very meaningful and rewarding.

The discussion around tuning music to 432 Hz continues to evoke strong responses. For some, it represents a return to natural harmony. By others, it is dismissed as pseudoscience wrapped in attractive language. Between these positions lies a more useful question: what actually happens when we frame sound, listening and intention through frequency?
In my 2016 article, “432 Hz: A New Standard Pitch?”, I explored the topic from a personal angle, trying to shed light by looking at the historical background of the widespread movement of people advocating for a change in tuning. This follow-up article adds another layer by drawing on academic research and cultural analysis, offering context without reducing the conversation to belief versus disbelief.

Neurodivergent individuals (including those on the autism spectrum, with ADHD, sensory processing disorders, etc.) often experience atypical auditory processing and sensory sensitivities. Sound-based interventions have gained traction for their potential to recalibrate neural pathways, influence autonomic nervous system regulation, and support sensory integration. Modern therapeutic approaches, from specialised listening programs to music therapy, are being studied alongside ancient practices like Tibetan singing bowls and tuning forks.
While traditional sound healing instruments are not a replacement for evidence-based therapies (rather a complementary tool), their use can be grounded in known physiological mechanisms (e.g. vibrational stimulation of mechanoreceptors and vagus nerve activation) to subtly enhance outcomes. This class provides an interesting overview comparing modern sound therapies with traditional instruments, emphasising a practitioner-oriented perspective that is scientifically viable yet practical.

For the first time, I am opening individual modules from my Sound Therapy Practitioner Training as standalone studies.
I am starting with Theoretical Foundations of Sound Therapy.
This module has always sat at the core of the training. It articulates how I understand sound as a transformative medium, how it shapes perception, physiology, and awareness, and how ancient insights and contemporary research can be held within a coherent, practical framework. It is the ground that supports everything else.
Until now, this material has been accessible only through the full training. However, not everyone is looking for a long-form training; many are seeking depth, clarity, and a grounded understanding that goes beyond techniques and trends.
For some, it can be a first point of contact. For others, it will offer language and structure for experiences they already have. It also reflects a broader shift in my work towards sharing foundational material in a way that is flexible, focused, and integrated.
If you are interested in sound therapy as a field of inquiry as much as a practice, this module stands well on its own.

-Why the Vagus Nerve Matters-
In my 2019 article “Sound Therapy and the Vagus Nerve“, I introduced the relevance of the vagus nerve in sound-based therapy.
The vagus nerve, the great “wanderer” of the nervous system, weaves its way through your body, linking your brain to your heart, lungs, and gut. Besides regulating autonomous functions, it sets the tone for how safe, calm, or stressed you feel in daily life.
When vagal tone is strong, your body shifts easily into rest and recovery. Your heart rate slows, digestion flows smoothly, and you bounce back from stress with more resilience. When it is weak, stress lingers, sleep suffers, and inflammation rises.
Measuring vagal tone has become a field of its own, with heart rate variability (HRV) serving as the gold-standard marker [1]. But more importantly, the vagus nerve offers us a gateway: if we can find ways to stimulate it naturally, we gain access to one of the body’s most powerful healing switches.
And this is where sound comes in...
