After several extended stays in the Sultanate in the early 1990's, Georg Popp quite unexpectedly wound up authoring the first travel guide for Oman. His great interest in art, culture, and all issues facing the people of Oman has determined the work of Georg Popp during the last two decades. In 2001 Georg Popp together with Alex Moll presented an art exhibition on the Sultanate of Oman for the first time in Germany. After several of his own visits to Oman, Alex Moll also felt a close connection with the country. It was a travelling exhibition, shown at German public universities and colleges, with information panels and works brought to Germany, about that faraway and unknown land, with the intention of bringing the people of Germany and the Sultanate a little closer. In newspaper reports and television programs, incomplete or even inaccurate information about the Sultanate are often disseminated in this country. It is due to this fact that we decided to open the Oman Shop: We want to make accurate information available, counteract erroneous information, and also see books made available on very specific issues. Our goal is to make books published in Oman, about the Sultanate of Oman, and other Arab countries, more accessible throughout Europe. This is sometimes not easy to accomplish, and is associated with some effort. We constantly strive to expand the offers listed, so if you notice that a title or a product in missing from the Oman Shop, please contact us. Similarly, we want to import and make available in Europe products, which are produced in the Sultanate of Oman and reflect the high levels of Omani craftsmanship. We also offer incense from the Sultanate of Oman, which is of the highest quality in the world. In general, we want to offer only products of the best and highest quality, because we find that this is the only way to present this country and its people fairly.
