Marx: Kafka, you spent your life suffering under an oppressive world, and now the very system that crushed you makes money selling your suffering. Your books are commodities. Your anguish is profitable.
Kafka: Karl, I know. You have told me three times.
Marx: And you still refuse to see the structure behind it! Even your alienation has become a product for the market.
Kafka: Must you turn every wound into an economic argument?
Marx: Because the wound is not merely personal. It is political. The individual suffers, while the system profits.
Kafka: And must the system follow me into every room, every dream, every silence? I cannot even be miserable without you organizing my misery into a theory.
Marx: That is precisely how ideology works. You mistake a social condition for an individual fate.
Kafka: And you mistake every individual fate for evidence in your case. Karl, there is a universe beyond wages, property, and class. There are stars, forests, strange dreams, and the absurd fact that we exist at all.
Marx: The man who owns the forest can still charge you for the view.
Kafka: Wonderful. Now the stars belong to the bourgeoisie.
Marx: If they can find a way to sell them, yes.
Kafka: Just stop for a moment. I am not asking you to explain my life. I am trying to live it.
Marx: But your books are already being sold.
Kafka: Then let them sell. I wrote because something in me needed to speak, not because I wished to become a chapter in your critique of capitalism.
Marx: You cannot escape the material conditions of your existence.
Kafka: Perhaps not. But I would still like one conversation in which I am allowed to exist without being turned into an example.
Marx: You see? Even your desire to escape the system is shaped by the system.
Kafka: And your desire to explain everything has become a system of its own.
Marx: History will prove me right.
Kafka: Perhaps. But, Karl, history is not the only thing happening while you wait to be right.
