Hello from Bandung,

The region’s natural surroundings invite you to explore: tea and rice plantations, and those who enjoy hiking will find impressive trails on Mount Ciremai.

Walking through Bandung itself, you’ll come across mosques, Buddhist temples and magnificent colonial buildings from the Dutch era, all coexisting side by side, of course. The Indonesian national motto, ‘Bhinneka Tunggal Ika’ – unity in diversity – becomes tangible here. And this also applies to how guests are treated: people greet you with an openness and warmth that makes you feel at home straight away. At Iftar, the breaking of the fast during Ramadan, fellow students and their families opened their homes to me – a welcome I won’t forget in quite some time.

Sampai jumpa dari Bandung,
Daniel

Salaam aleikum from Morocco!
I'm currently spending my semester abroad in Rabat, the beautiful capital of Morocco. Alongside the fascinating lectures at the Business School, I spend most of my time in one of two ways:

Either I'm taking advantage of the incredible sports facilities on the UIR's vast green campus: Gym, football, basketball, volleyball, tennis, padel, boxing and much more. The campus itself is also home to restaurants, several cafés and even its own supermarket.

Or I'm immersing myself in Moroccan culture, for example through a weekend trip into the desert to visit the Amazigh, the indigenous people of Morocco.

What strikes me most, is above all the sheer diversity this country has to offer. In the north of Morocco you can see a very distinct European influence, particularly in the cities of Tangier and Tétouan, whilst the south captivates with the vast Sahara and breathtaking expanses of oases.

Whether surfing on the Atlantic, hiking in the Atlas Mountains or getting wonderfully lost in one of the 9,000-plus alleyways of the largest medina in the world in Fes, every single day here holds a new adventure. And that is exactly how I would describe my time here: an unforgettable, wonderful adventure.

Sunny greetings, Luca
