Exciting news from Edition 13: Fernanda and Rodgers have been selected for the 2026 Global Enterprise Experience (GEE)!
GEE is an international leadership programme hosted by Victoria University of Wellington in New Zealand and recognised by the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) for its global impact.
🌽 Their project, GreenFuel Chibombo, focuses on transforming maize harvest waste into sustainable charcoal briquettes in Zambia through a circular economy model.
The project explores how locally driven sustainability initiatives can address environmental pressures, rural livelihoods, and energy insecurity in ways that also speak to the structural drivers of migration, with potential applications beyond Zambia in other agriculture-dependent regions facing climate-related mobility challenges.
👏 Congratulations to both of them, and good luck as the programme continues.

🎥 Every EMMIR edition leaves its mark with a video that tells their story.
Now in their second semester, we’re excited to share their official introduction video with the wider community. With 43 students from 23 countries, it’s a wonderful snapshot of the energy and people that make up this edition.
Grab some popcorn, and see what has to say for themselves:

Through their internship research, students explored migration across diverse contexts—from AI-driven border infrastructures to diaspora identity and climate mobility.
Their projects show the breadth, depth, and real-world relevance of today.
