Where does all the garbage go?
“Not in the oceans!” says Wanda Racoon, one of our 5 climate heroes.

🫣 Did you know that an estimated 100-140 tons of garbage are already floating in the oceans? Every year there is more and more waste, which has dramatic consequences for the health of the animals and plants in it. And ultimately also for us humans, because we also need the oceans to live: Not only because we eat marine animals (and the waste deposited in them), the plankton in the oceans also produce 50% of the oxygen generated by photosynthesis.

👉But how to talk to children about waste problems and environmental protection?

1. Wanda Racoon has a nose for sorting waste correctly: with HUMANICO waste separation, children can learn about the classification of waste types and recycling systems in a playful way.

2. Starfish Mr. Bubbles is already getting a tummy ache from all the garbage. The children can free him from it and feed him what he normally eats.

Let's avoid garbage together, recycle garbage, remove garbage from the environment!

🤓The “What can I do” game gives us some ideas:

Some things are obvious:
👉 Close the tap when brushing your teeth.
👉 Cycling short distances instead of driving.

For other things, we just need a little imagination and skill:
👉 Don't throw away cardboard boxes, make something out of them: stick nice paper on them and use them as a treasure site for toys.
👉 Repair instead of throwing away.

But how can we protect the rainforest here?

The enclosed booklet explains in child-friendly language how we can make sure that the products we choose every day do not contain palm oil, for example.
that no palm oil, for example, has been used in their production. This is because the rainforest is often cut down to grow palm oil and the habitat for orangutans is lost forever.

🦋 Today is Biodiversity Day. That's exactly what 🐝Billy Bee is worried about, because there are fewer and fewer of them in her flower meadow! But as a honey bee, she loves being able to fly to different flowers and sip her nectar. 🌱Just like their wild relatives, some of which are even more specialized when it comes to flower varieties.

"The solution lies in working together!", says Billy Bee.

So what can you do together with the children to help Billy Bee thrive?

We are excited to support a workshop in collaboration with the University of Siena! Students in the fields of education and pedagogy will develop an idea for an educational toy, outline a concept and create a prototype. The workshop will start on May 2nd, 2024.
