🌍 As Nigeria celebrates Mathematics champions, Thailand is raising coding champions. Imagine what happens when both worlds meet 💻📐

A 12-year-old Thai boy, Nipun Skyz Lua, emerged the winner (gold and silver medals) in computer programming at the International STEM Olympiad Grand Final in Rome. The Year 7 student advanced from an online preliminary round involving more than 10,000 participants from 54 countries before claiming gold in Code Combat and silver in Code Mentum.

It's fascinating to see how 'supposedly' developing countries are nurturing young talent. Some continue to produce exceptional mathematicians, while others are investing heavily in coding, robotics, and artificial intelligence from an early age.

Perhaps the future won't belong to students who excel in just one of these areas—but to those who can combine strong mathematical thinking with programming skills to solve real-world problems.

A 12-year-old Thai student has won gold and silver medals in computer programming at the International STEM Olympiad – Grand Final Round in Rome, Italy.

Nipun Skyz Lua, a Year 7 student, earned gold in Code Combat and silver in Code Mentum, competing against finalists from 54 countries after an online preliminary round involving more than 10,000 participants worldwide.

This math teacher, Anthony Iwegbu, walked up to Alex Onyia today and told him that he is the first in his lineage to have gone abroad.

He told Alex that bringing him to Rome, all expenses paid, will change his life forever as a teacher.

"At first, I didn’t believe it, but I’m happy that my effort as a teacher has made that possible for me.

I really love to see our teachers excel. They have been neglected for so long," Alex concluded.

Anthony Iwegbu teaches at Diamond Special Schools, Owerri, Imo State.

His students, Egejurum Onyedukachi and Don Anele Munachimso, won the Primary and Secondary categories of the South East Maths Olympiad for Imo State, respectively.

They are currently in Rome to represent Nigeria in the International Maths Olympiad.

Congratulations, Sir Anthony Iwegbu. This is the beginning of a beautiful new phase in your life.
