Passion Play Oberammergau

Oberammergau director Christian Stückl is currently preparing for his fifth production of the Passion Play. Yesterday evening, he presented his ideas and visions for the Passion Play 2030 at a public meeting. Among other things, the 62-year-old wants to further develop the figure of Jesus. He emphasized that many young people can no longer relate to Jesus. The director is also planning to include more female roles in future. However, the official decision on the director will not be made by the municipal council until tomorrow evening in a non-public meeting. Christian Stückl has been directing the Oberammergau Passion Play since 1990. The next Passion Play will take place from May to October 2030.

Last Saturday, the 200th anniversary of the death of the composer Rochus Dedler was commemorated with a ceremonial wreath-laying.
In December, a part of the permanent exhibition on the Passion Play will be dedicated to him in the foyer of the Passion Play Theatre.

With the last performance on October 2nd the 42nd Oberammergau Passion Play came to an end after 110 performances and with more than 412,000 visitors. Thank you all for being part of it!

Frederik Mayet spielt schon zum zweiten Mal die Hauptrolle beim berühmtesten Passionsspiel der Welt. Sein Jesus ist einer, der auch mal auf den Tisch hauen kann.
