I posted this a while back on LinkedIn and then I kind of lost myself in the pause - a contemplative inner reset moment of myself.

It feels ever more true.

I notice how tired I am of the current narrative. Of the stories I’m being sold and the shouty voices in the world.

So I’ve decided to pick a different one.
One that comes from deep down in the gut. From the human part of me that connects easily to others, that feels, that loves, that wants to build others up and share and shine.

That is a story that says there is a different way, a way that is so much more in tune with who I am when I’m really connected to me.

We are woven from story. From ancestors who sat around fires exchanging tales, to the me who sat on my kids’ beds reading story after story into the night.
We build ourselves through stories. Stories we make up about ourselves. Stories the world makes up for us.
Stories we believe so deeply they put us under a spell.

And I think people are starting to feel ready for a new narrator and a different plot. Stories matter because they are an invitation. They give us the impossible and make it possible.

When we choose the story we deeply want rather than the one being imposed on us - something happens, we take back something that is subtle and uniquely ours.

It has been a little why since I posted here. I needed a break from it.
And then I recently went back on linkedin, I was pondering the difference between a snake and a horse 🤷🏼‍♀️

In my coaching work recently, I keep hearing the same things: people feeling stuck, unfulfilled, like time is racing by and there’s no clear path forward.

I’m not usually one for astrology, but something about the Chinese calendar has been landing for me. We’re about to shift from the year of the snake into the year of the fire horse (Feb 17th), and it feels weirdly relevant.

The snake? It’s all about stillness and going inward. That feeling of being “stuck” might actually be an invitation to listen more deeply. Less doing, more contemplating. Getting aligned on the inside before making moves on the outside.

This year, so many people have been in that space – watching, waiting, feeling like life is happening to them rather than through them. Old ways of doing things stop working. You’ve outgrown something, but you’re not quite ready for what’s next.

The shedding matters though. Snakes shed their skin to grow and to get rid of parasites.

The fire horse energy? Completely different. It doesn’t wait around. It’s passion, depth, action. It wants space and full expression. It’s the kind of leadership that comes from inner knowing, not external pressure.

And I’m seeing something beautiful in the people I work with – a wildness coming alive. A refusal to settle. A desire to claim their own lives on their own terms. Less managing around other people’s expectations, more living from inner truth.

But before that outward movement really happens, this last bit of snake time feels important. To sit, go inward, notice what needs to be released or honored – so the action that comes is grounded, not reactive.

Don’t rush. Take a walk without your headphones in. Sit somewhere quiet. Notice what feels complete, what’s ready to go, and what keeps asking for more space.

The action will come. Inner alignment creates its own momentum.
