𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝗮 𝗗𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗗𝗚𝗢𝗥 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗮𝘁 𝗠𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗵 𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹

How can businesses respond responsibly and effectively to complex economic, environmental, and social challenges? This is the central question explored by the four prize-winning theses honored at this year's DGOR Research Award, presented by Prof. Dr. Johannes Hofinger Hofinger, Professor for Finance. 🙏

The breadth of topics is impressive: From sustainability reporting and healthier purchasing decisions to circular economy models in the automotive sector: all of the winning theses combine analytical rigor with practical relevance and a clear understanding of business responsibilities toward people, society, and the environment.

🔹 Viola Antoniazzi – Beyond Compliance: Turning Sustainability Reporting into Financial and Strategic Value
🔹 Frederik Huber – Integrating Sustainability into Product Lifecycle Management
🔹 Leopold Goldbrunner – Financial Implications of ESG Factors for the Cost of Capital
🔹 Shreya Nathwani – Drivers and Barriers of Circular Economy Implementation: Firm-Level Insights from Germany's Automotive Sector

Particularly compelling: The studies show that there are no simple answers. Behavioral nudging works better than the Nutri-Score label alone, ESG factors do lower the cost of capital – but not under all conditions, and technological solutions alone are insufficient for genuine circular economy transformation. What's needed is collaboration, organizational learning, and a willingness to question existing structures.

As Prof. Dr. Johannes Hofinger puts it: "These theses reflect the analytical rigor, creativity, and real-world relevance that define the MBS spirit."
