Phileas Student Conference in Philosophy (Conférence des étudiants)

PHILEAS and Mathematical Philosophy Student Society (MAPHS) are organising a joint conference in philosophy. We are delighted to announce that we are now inviting submissions of abstracts to be considered for Phileas' annual student conference. It will be held at the University of Geneva (UNIGE), on 12 April 2019. The aim of the conference is to provide an opportunity for students in masters or finishing their bachelors to present their work. We encourage talks in any area of philosophy, however it mustn’t be historical or hermeneutical. There is no conference fee and everyone is encouraged to participate.

CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

Submissions must include a title, a brief abstract (250 words) and must include your name, affiliated university and current degree. The talk should be around 40 minutes long, followed by a 15 minutes of discussion. The deadline for submissions is 28 February. Talks can be given in English or French. The chosen speaker will be notified shortly after the deadline.

Limited travel and accommodation grants might be available for at least one student from Munich. President of Phileas Stéphanie, is willing to host up to three people.

We are committed to fostering diversity and equality. Entries from underrepresented groups are especially welcome.

Please send your submissions in .pdf format to:

ATTENTION:
Below is preliminary information on a graduate program in Philosophy at the University of Western Michigan. If you know of anyone who might be interested in the program, please feel free to forward them this note or have them contact the department.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As you may know, the Western Michigan Philosophy Department has a highly regarded Master of Arts program. We’ve done a great job of placing our students in both top-ranked Philosophy PhD programs (e.g., Rutgers, Pittsburgh, Michigan, Stanford, Berkeley, UNC) and leading law schools (Berkeley, Virginia, Michigan).

We are also able to offer students generous funding packages. For the last three years, all of our graduate students have received funding and tuition remissions (the typical full-time Graduate Assistantship includes an annual stipend of approximately $12,500 as well as the opportunity for an additional summer teaching stipend of approximately $3,000). In addition to this, we also have two scholarships that provide supplementary funding for students from traditionally underrepresented groups.

The deadline for full consideration is February 15 (though applications are considered on a rolling basis after this).

For more information, please contact Charlie Kurth, a member of the MAP chapter at Western Michigan University and the Head of Graduate Admissions for MA Philosophy on: [email protected]
