What does me doing art have to do with child care?
Quite a lot, actually!
Last night I went to an art workshop at Kinderkunsthaus in Munich (=Children’s Art House).
I love painting, experimenting, not knowing exactly what will happen next — just flowing with it in the moment.
It also feels a little like stepping into a child’s world again. 😻
Children do this naturally — they explore, try things, and follow their curiosity without worrying about the result…
As adults we often lose that!
For me, evenings like this are also about tanking up on life energy again — finding balance. When I’m at home I feel like I rarely carve out time for my art projects. Booking these evenings makes it easier for me to actually commit and do something good for my human soul.
During, and afterwards, I feel like a million bucks!
One time I met a mother there whose baby was a few months old. She was so happy to be there! It was her first evening off, and the Papa was at home taking care of their baby. You could really feel how much it meant to her to have a little space just for herself.
This is something I try to do every other month now. It is so good for me!
Thank you - and especially artsy Franzi and Anne, for creating such an inspiring and helpful space for making art.
Sometimes taking good care of children also means remembering how to play and create again ourselves — and actually taking the time to do it.
