Which cobot is more safe
Each producer of industrial robots and also many new companies trying to win a piece of the market for cobots. The Idea about a safe robot goes through many heads.
The first success of Universal robots shows then a cobot can be a good alternativity for common industrial robot. Unfortunately mostly cobots were sold not for industrial projects but for laboratories and exhibitions.
First couple industrial projects already shoes then a solution with cobots not really safe and needs a special risk assessment and an end-user cannot install a cobot without safety like it was desired before.
The dream about safe robot lives more in our mind. The peoples are not ready to see industrial robots without safety and hope to find a safe solution based on slow speed and torque control.
Independent of torque and speed one robot can set up damage for a man with a gripper or with the part in the gripper. When you move a knife in the body of humans slowly or even faster then it makes no sense.

The price for milling robot is more as double cheaper as CNC machine with the same parameters
Huge working area available with possibilities to use two or three different working tables for milling
Mostly you will get water-cooled spindle with 24.000 till 36.000 rpm without huge add price
Depend on the payload of the robot you can work with hard materials like stone or steel.
Your real accuracy will be about 0,5 till 1 mm. This value is mostly enough good for many applications.
You can create a milling program in G-code as usually.

Test milling with new part
When you programming any new parts also special with CAM Tools you see always visualization of the milling process. So you can be always aware of any troubles. Also, an anticollision check from the CAM program is also able to show you the milling process.
But when you create a robot program during using of post-processor you can never be sure then the program will working well. You have no tools, how you can robot program before start. You can try to simulate the milling process without part, but you cannot understand what's going on material surface. This type of simulation also takes a lot of time and not really representative.
Already a long time I used styrofoam material for test milling. You can buy different types of styrofoam, its cheap and easy to use. You can mill the parts and use the same material for the next milling since you are able to cut off used parts or glue together many small blocks to one big block.
