Biomedical Neuroscience - Master of Science (M.Sc.) - TUM The Elite-Master program Biomedical Neuroscience offers an excellent scientific training to get a top-level understanding of neuroscience theory and practice, as well as on neuro-psychiatric disorders. It fills the gap between standard medical education and natural science curricula.

We recently had our graduation ceremony with students who joined the program in 2019/2020. As a coordinator and lecturer, Professor Helmuth Adelsberger was in close contact to them throughout their studies. He was very happy to see almost all of them for this great social event!

Student Rebecca James has recently worked in the
Serwane lab. She loves working with such a diverse group of physicists and neuroscientists. Becca wants to express genetically encoded calcium sensors in retinal organoids to explore the mechanics of the retinal neural network.

Cassandra, a BMN alumnus, is now a PhD student in the HaPpY European doctorate program and will be doing a dual doctorate between the University of Cadiz and Laval University studying pharmaceutical targets to address the comorbidity of chronic pain and depression.

Lucía Rodríguez Martínez, a second-year student in our program, recently started working on her Master's thesis on "direct reprogramming of macrophages to neurons in vitro" at the laboratory of Prof. Dr. Magdalena Götz at the Institute of Stem Cell Research.

Fritz Kagerer recently went abroad! He did a rotation at the ELSC for Brain Sci­ences of The He­brew Uni­versity. He worked in the memory lab of Prof. Goshen, but can't remember what exactly he did there... it´s good they do not study his brain but focus on mice as a model.

Space for creativity Kitchens and laboratories have a lot in common. So it’s no coincidence that a commercial kitchen was booked to give new students in the elite Biomedical Neurosciences program a non-threatening introduction to lab methods in the first week of their studies.

Want to study abroad? 🌍Several of us have studied abroad during our program. Lisa Rottenfußer is currently in Israel working on a project to map the pain related innervation of the rodent gut. We miss you here in Munich Lisa!
