When you start with your studies in Germany, you will always have an orientation day. Orientation day is created with the purpose to give you a glimpse into a study plan and available classes. The courses are always divided into two groups: main and elective. The main courses include content directly related to your field of studies, while electives give you the possibility to broaden your perspective and get additional knowledge. So, depending on how many credits you need to collect during your planned study period, you adjust your study plan accordingly. Usually, you are obliged to get a specific amount of both main and elective courses. Of course, as Germany offers a great opportunity to combine studies and professional experience, your study plan can be also adjusted to a greater extend. For example, if you find a working student position, you can see on which days you are supposed to work and on which days you can take more courses or dedicate time to homework and projects.

Hello! This is Anastasia and today I am going to share with you one pitfall I have recognized during my studies in Germany:
Blocked account. Each foreign student in Germany is required to open a German bank account to finance studies. When we came to study in Germany as students from Finland it was enough for us to have normal student bank accounts. However, when I came afterward from Russia to Germany I had to block this account because of certain regulations in the city I was living in. It is interesting, but each foreign office in Germany will have its regulations regarding a bank account and it is always useful to ask beforehand if you need a blocked one or a normal is enough.

Hey, it’s Anna! Education and professional journeys abroad are not easy and full of pitfalls. My journey started with a visa rejection. Yes, that’s right, I got a visa rejection to study in Germany at the time when I’ve already started studying remotely at HS Augsburg. In those moments the most important thing is to find the answer to the following questions “Why did it happen?” and “What should I do to correct it?”. Don’t give up! There are millions of people getting visa rejections and they still make it! Visa rejection is not a reason to give up on your dreams! Together we can support you throughout your journey and make it unique, unforgettable, and smooth!

Hello, it is Anastasiia :) A couple of weeks ago, I told you about my first working student experience in Germany, and today I will continue telling you about my journey. After spending one year in my first position, I came to the realization that I reached my full potential and required some changes in terms of the new topics and new challenges. As I was satisfied with my current employer, I decided to look for opportunities within the company on the internal job portal (usually employees have early access to all newly posted positions). And after I contacted the manager of the position I was interested in, I was invited to a 30-minute coffee break/interview, during which I got the news that they would gladly have me on their team, if I was still interested. It was quite surprising for me because to get the initial position, the process lasted about 3 months. But as many people say, you just have to get your foot in the door and many more opportunities will start opening for you, which was also true in my case :)

Hey there! It is Anna again and I would like to tell you more about my working student experience:)
After the 3rd semester in University, I decided to gather experience & financial support and looked for a working student position.
After a number of sleepless nights applying to positions and preparing for interviews, I found a position which fulfilled all my criteria:) In total, I went through 3 interviews within the company before receiving the coveted “YES” and started to prepare for my first day!
I was thrilled to get to know my new team and responsibilities. I was working in a finance support function at one of the IT companies. Our department was very international (5 different nationalities among 12 people) and was operating globally. I could not have been happier (heart smily) to start and it was a great 18 months long adventure.

Hello, this is Anastasia! Some weeks ago I talked about my first working student experience after my bachelors and now it's time to continue :)
After my first working student position, I got familiar with the design thinking field and got interested to know more. When I started my master's in 2019, right away I began my student job search. After some analysis, I saw a position in the design thinking area and decided to apply. As far as I already had experience and knew about the details of the position, it was not difficult for me to prepare the CV and Cover letter. I got an interview and after some time was hired. My journey with design thinking continues and I am glad that at some point in my life I got to know that such a field exists and evolves through time. At this position, I work with experts from the field, organize workshops, and collaborate with different teams.
Professional experience during your studies brings a lot of benefits to your future development. You get to know yourself, the corporate world, and the people around you!

Once you are finished with your studies and start working full-time, you might initially think that all exams are over. However, it cannot be further away from the truth. In a few weeks/months you will for sure start hearing about some of your colleagues (both your age and much older than you) taking study leave to prepare for professional exams. So what are these exams are what are they useful for? While these kinds of exams might not necessarily result in a promotion, they will for sure provide you with some specific knowledge applicable to your day-to-day work. But to understand which exams might be more beneficial in your particular situation, consider consulting with your colleagues, exploring the Internet, or contacting us. We are always happy to provide you with some guidance!

New Year is almost here! 🥳
The dearest movies during this time are the ones which bring the best memories! Movies from Disney and Pixar, especially the old ones! One of these animated movies is "Aristocats" - my recommendation! ❤️

Hey, it’s Anna again and today I would like to share with you my favorite Christmas movie from my childhood!
When I was growing up one of my favorite Christmas movies was Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer🦌🎅🏻🎄
It’s a very kind movie which tells us a story of an unusual reindeer who was born with a red nose.
This is a perfect movie to watch with kids and lighten up your Christmas mood!

As the Christmas time is in full force, it is time to share with you one of my favorite childhood movies about Christmas - About a boy! It is a comedy drama which tells a story of Will Freeman - a carefree man in his thirties living of royalties from a Christmas song written by his father. Like many holiday movies, it relies on the significance of Christmas, but doesn't harp on it. In case you did not watch this movie yet, please do so!
