Why do we need Job Crafting? Today's working world is characterized by constant development and networking. Progressive digitization and globalization, together with the COVID-19 pandemic, are leading to increased dynamics, interdependence and diversity. This also affects the way people want to work and what is important to them at work. While technological advances and global networking bring many benefits, they can also be challenging. More autonomy regarding decisions about work design also leads to increasingly individualized jobs and work realities that need to be addressed. The responsibility to create working conditions that fit individual requirements is therefore increasingly on the individual today. Job crafting allows employees to proactively adapt their jobs to their own wishes and needs and is therefore an ideal response to the requirements of today's working world.

Do you already know the transformational leadership style? It is a concept that has enjoyed great popularity in research and practice since its development. No other leadership style has so many positive consequences - for the leader, the employees and the entire company. The model has 4 components, referred to as "the 4 I`s". I translate the first I as being an idol and role model. The leader is accepted as a role model because he or she follows moral standards, is authentic and builds a relationship of trust. The second I, Inspiration through Motivation and Persuasion, is about having a compelling vision and being able to communicate it. The third I is Intellectual Stimulation. This means stimulation to think and act independently and innovatively. The fourth I is called individual consideration and promotion or coaching-oriented leadership. This means that managers develop their employees and give them feedback on their strengths and potential.

Transition coaching is one of my coaching focuses. I regularly accompany coachees into a new leadership role or when they make the leap to the next management level. In this situation my coachees often do not have the highest professional expertise themselves for the first time. Whereas up to this point they had been completely confident and were able to answer all questions, they now often have their first doubts: "How can I derive my leadership ambitions if I don't have perfect technical skills?”
Those who deal with this question develop as leaders and mature into "real" leaders. A transformational leadership style can help at this point. But what exactly is transformational leadership? And how do I lead with authenticity and personality? Find out in the latest episode of THE BUSINESS COACHING PODCAST (link in bio)

Producing MY BUSINDESS PODCAST is a lot of fun and the 10th episode has just been released. 🎉 The photos above show me in the studio of B.O.A. Videofilmkunst GmbH with Ralph, my sound engineer. Ralph is such a calm and professional person!
In preparation of each recording, the speech coaching sessions with Ruth Geiersberger are super helpful. Ruth is a performance artist, actress and voice coach. She shows me how to play with my voice and create impact with it. I learn more with every episode and Ruth is now part of our team and also coaches my coachees.
MY BUSINESS COACHING PODCAST gives an impression of my main fields of expertise. In many episodes a - of course fictitious - coachee comes up and describes his or her concerns. These dialogs bring the podcast to life and make coaching a tangible experience. At least that's my goal, and the positive feedback proofs that the concept works.
How do I choose the topics? Initially, the content was predominated by the sudden necessity of working from home. This was later followed by a mini-series on career coaching: How do I identify my signature strengths? What work environment makes me effective and successful? What motivates me? Based on these and other questions, I have mapped out my career panorama.
The current 10th episode is about leadership based on authenticity and personality. Tom, my coachee takes over a new team and a new topic and, for the first time, he no longer feels 100 percent professionally saddle-fast. "Where do I now derive my authority as a leader from?" is his question and we work on this in the coaching. You can find the link to the current episode in my bio!

In the New Normal, "being observed" and "observing oneself" becomes a topic in video meetings. As one coachee puts it, "I feel like I'm constantly being watched, especially by myself - and I've become really dissatisfied with my appearance."
This is exactly what I talk about with my guest Lea Menzel. She is a psychologist and has conducted a study on well-being in video meetings. Clear result: it affects our well-being when we watch ourselves and compare ourselves with others. In the podcast, we talk about the psychological background and give tips on how you can increase your well-being in video meetings. Feel free to listen to my newest episode!

In video meetings, we can constantly see ourselves and the other participants. It affects our well-being when we observe ourselves and compare ourselves with others. In the podcast, I talk with my colleague about the recent study she did at the University of Salzburg on self-awareness in video meetings. We give tips on how to increase your well-being in video meetings and counteract the so-called "zoom fatigue".

Announcement: Reached my major diversity goal ✔️
I have been working as an executive and senior executive coach since 2005 and when I look back it's been predominantly male coachees. Today, for the first time, I have a balanced proportion of male and female coachees. This is certainly due to the fact that I work predominantly for DAX companies, which have now all set themselves very demanding diversity goals. I love working with creative, inspiring female a n d male leaders. The mixture makes the difference - both in Coaching practice and in Management. I would love tohear about your diversity goals!

"Coaching in the New Normal" is the title of the survey study we conducted last fall (link in bio). In addition to the trends we identified in 2020, there is a new development in 2021: coaching is becoming increasingly global.
🌎 A previously national executive development program will be conducted virtually and globally for the first time, and I will get to coach coachees around the world.
🌎 Previously national potential analyses are rolled out internationally, which means preparation and follow-up coaching in the UK and "Down Under" for me.
🌎 A Canadian female manager becomes a member of a traditionally all-male and German board - a super exciting coaching assignment.
Is coaching also becoming more global in your practice/company? What is more formative - the shared corporate culture or the intercultural differences?

A trip around the world in one day? Easily done in todays "New Normal".
🌎 As part of an international coaching program, I'm currently traveling the world virtually, working in and with different cultures every day. This is incredibly exciting! My coachees are high-performers in the corporate environment and the issues that concern them are very similar everywhere:
🌎 How can I increase my visibility, especially when we work globally and remotely?
🌎 How do I find the time and a personal style to expand and actively play my network?
🌎 How can I find a good work-life balance despite the enormous workload, the transformation process and working from home?
🌎 My impression: The challenges of New Work and New Normal, i.e. the work and corporate cultures, are experienced very similarly across all nationalities. And the fact that the Big Five of personality psychology are present in every culture is something I can also experience on a daily basis.
🌎 Another interesting coaching aspect is to discover the subtle cross-cultural differences and how these can lead to misperceptions. I am very grateful that my work has become much more international now - without exhausting and time-consuming business trips.
🌎 How do you experience coaching in the New Normal? Have your programs and activities also become (even) more global?
