This week, pupils from S1 to S6 built large solar panels and used them to generate electricity for a number of electric instruments, such as the piano and guitar, which they played during the long break in the outdoor area next to the secondary school canteen.
It was a great project for learning practical skills and physics theory. What’s more, everyone involved had a great time 🤩👍!

Four students from our teacher Fernando Carmona Ruiz's S3 L1 Spanish class have won the 3rd Podcast Competition, 'La Voz de eLeo'. Valores Humanos Que Nos Transmiten Los Libros', organised by the Education Section of the Spanish Embassy in Berlin, in the European Schools category 🤩👏👍!
Throughout the school year, we worked on the project, juggling scriptwriting, audio recording, editing and cover design alongside lessons, reading, library time and sessions in the Creator Space. The project brilliantly combined the pupils’ excellent reading skills with active and collaborative learning.

Yesterday, the Eureka! Fair took place at the Secondary School for the third time. At the fair, our gifted students from S3 to S5 presented their creative projects from a wide range of fields to the school community. Over the course of six months, they had worked on their ideas with great dedication, enthusiasm and commitment 🤩.
The Eureka! Project gives participants the opportunity to develop important skills beyond the classroom – skills that will benefit them later in their studies, research activities and professional careers. How do I explore innovative topics that interest me? How do I plan and carry out a project? How do I present my findings convincingly to an audience? These are just some of the questions that students engage with throughout the programme.
Once again, visitors were impressed by the ingenuity, creativity and innovative spirit of our young researchers. The students not only gained valuable experience but also had a great deal of fun throughout their projects and while presenting their results.

To mark the occasion of the Italian Republic Day (Festa della Repubblica) the students of P5 ITA actively involved their peers from the other P5 classes to celebrate this highly significant institutional anniversary together.
The initiative provided an important educational opportunity to reflect on the deep meaning of June 2nd: the birth of the Italian Republic founded on the values of democracy, liberty, unity, and mutual respect. It was inspiring to see how the children translated these concepts into an intercultural context, bringing a true "European dimension" into their daily school life and promoting active citizenship among peers across different sections.
To share this special occasion, the students personally organized:
- Educational games centered on the Emblem of the Republic, discovering the history and meaning behind its symbols.
- A choral performance of the Italian National Anthem (Inno di Mameli), which brought all the students together in a very moving moment.
- A themed snack, during which they offered tricolor skewers (made with cherry tomatoes, mozzarella, and cucumbers) to represent the colors of the Italian flag.
A wonderful day for the children, who took part with great enthusiasm 🤩!

Recently, the P5ITA class and their teacher, Brigida Clemente, welcomed Mr Fusetti, one of our classroom parents, to deliver an exciting science lesson on 'Forces and Motion' 🤩. This hands-on experience complemented our science curriculum for this school year perfectly.
The session was highly interactive and structured into several engaging phases for the students:
An initial team game (Ice Breaker) to introduce the concepts of contact and non-contact forces.
A theoretical and visual introduction to how forces are represented and measured (the concept of vectors, the Newton unit of measurement and the use of a dynamometer).
Quick 5-minute practical experiments to understand Isaac Newton's three laws of motion.
A final, very engaging explanation of the 'physics of the bicycle', applying the concepts they had learned to balance, pedals and brake friction.
The children participated with great enthusiasm, deepening their understanding of curriculum topics and experiencing science in a practical way. Furthermore, this demonstrates the valuable collaboration between the school and our families.

On Monday, June 1, the jazz group "Ensemble Clazzic" performed for the P4 classes at the ESM Fasangarten. They played cross-over jazz pieces which take popular classical themes and transform them into jazz masterpieces 🤩.
Music included pieces by Claude Bolling, Pedro Láurenz, Uri Brener, and Exequiel Mantega.

Why do air bubbles burst immediately, but soap bubbles don’t 🤔?
It's experiment day at 1DEb every Tuesday 🤩. Given the weather, we thought we’d head outside this week and do something involving water.
Our aim was to investigate why air bubbles burst immediately when blown into a glass of water using a straw, whereas adding a splash of washing-up liquid creates bubbles that vanish seconds later. The solution: 'Washing-up liquid acts like a rubber coating!'
