🏙️ Protect Our Green Spaces! 🌳
Hey folks in Berlin, I don't usually post much, but this is crucial. Our beloved Tempelhofer Feld, a haven for sports and leisure, is under threat. The Berlin Senate has plans to build over our cherished baseball field and other fantastic sports amenities. While it's under the guise of expanding refugee accommodations - a noble cause - there's more to it.
For those who've been in Berlin long enough, you'll remember the 2014 public vote against developing the historic airport. Now, it seems there's a new angle to encroach upon our valued open space, prime real estate in Kreuzberg. They're aiming for a legal change that could open doors to unwanted development. The areas designated for development makes no sense, as directly next to this area are large unoccupied spaces perfect for temporary expansion if refugee accommodation.
Tempelhofer Feld, especially the baseball park, is more than just a place; it's a community hub for me, my family, and friends. It's where we connect, play, and breathe.
