Our hearts are with Ukraine!

We are shocked by the events of the last days and hours. This is first and foremost an attack by the Russian government on Ukraine.
Beyond this, it is also an attack on fundamental values and believes that we share and stand for as Ostar Music Network. International collaboration, continuing exchange and dialogue are core principles of what we do.
Active invasion of an independent European country and the language of war are unacceptable and violate all of these values, believes and principles!

We want to express solidarity and support to our colleagues and friends, to all Ukranians and all people affected by this war.

Here are some things you can do if you want to support:

-Be vocal about what is happening, sign petitions, join protests
-Follow and share the developments through reliable media, e.g. on social media via
-Reach out to your Ukrainian friends, for solidarity and for offering support. Better call one time too many than one too few

This journey in music is about more than just the distance between three countries.

TEAM8 has grown together incredibly fast and created a unique piece of music that will enter through your eardrums, hits the spine and is guaranteed to stick in your head forever.

Take a bath in the soulfully bubbling goodness that is this acoustic track entitled „The Surface of my Moon“, a spectacularly sparsely arranged pop song with crisp guitars and heartbeat-like drums.

Brought to you at this Popakademie Baden-Württemberg summer camp by:

+ Daria Bogdanova (Bodaria) – punk rock singer-songwriter from Moscow, Russia

+ Louisa Wenderoth of EMBER TALES – singer-songwriter from Germany

+ Daniel Weixler - singer/songwriter from Vienna, Austria

+ Carsten Nothof - guitarist/composer from Germany

Most crucial experience in a music collaboration comes from the most unexpected background.

Just like this amazing team up between Frankfurt's progressive pop band Elda - Band and Mannheim's GEISTHA, a dark and wonderfully melancholic goth music producer.

ELDA are well known for their progressive pop style circling around multi layered and carefully crafted lyrics. Their live sets are full of eclectic energy and focus, a multi colored playing field for unconventional ideas.

Push this through a sieve and put the essence on the dark, wobbling cloud of GEISTHAs synth driven soundscapes and you got yourself a rare species of sound and feeling.

To write music together with musicians from abroad, it's crucial to find a supportive and organic music community.

BLUNGE is a perfect example of an international collaboration between three musicians taking part in a Popakademie Baden-Württemberg online music camp.

BLUNGE is your perfect melting pot for some real heavy stuff. All three musicians feel most comfortable in the heavier section of a record store and eagerly bring their voice and attitude to the table.

- Nikita Borisov - video director and concert promoter at Octus , amateur guitarist and sound producer from Kirov, Russia

- Dmitry Musatov - guitarist, keyboardist and sound producer with Musatov Brothers from the scientific city of Obninsk, Russia

- Daniel J Golden - metal singer/songwriter of Deceiver from Frankfurt, Germany

The result is inevitably ear drum blasting: a feast of progressive metal, a wild ride through unusual arrangements, loud and honest - just the way you want it to be.

Their track “Raging” written during the songwriting camp circles around the age-old conflict between fathers and children, sometimes it’s not enough to simply talk things through - sometimes you just have to shout them.

New revelations in music often follow you when you dive into a completely different genre than you've got used to.

Jenny Vinogradova, a punk rock singer from Russia, tells us about her unforgettable international collaboration at Popakademie Baden-Württemberg Songwriting Camp 2020.

Used to play catchy guitar riffs in front of a slamming mosh pit, Jenny was completely taken aback when she was put together with a multi-genre singer RIIVA and multi-instrumentalist Stephen Mclellan at the Camp. As turned out later, all happens for a reason.

Self-made musicians and songwriters rarely have a chance to gather a cross-border team to make a track together.

Brace yourselves, everybody: here comes a real musical thunderstorm from 3 countries.

TEAM7 originated at the International Summer Camp at
Popakademie Baden-Württemberg in 2021. In this weeklong workshop musicians from all over the world forge tracks in all different kind of styles and genres. You can always expect high level outcomes but TEAM7 really raised the bar this year.

The quartet forms a long distance triangle between Russia, Namibia and Germany:

- Maxim Khrychev aka MYTH Миф from Nizhni Novgorod, Russia

- Zakhar aka ZKHR from Bryansk, Russia

- Karl Morenga from Windhoek, Namibia

- Johannes Frick aka Jon Darc from Mannheim, Germany

We could try and go into detail about the individual styles of those four gentlemen, but you will find that the track you’re about to hear is far more than the sum of its parts. It’s the dark trilingual soundtrack to the Blade Runner movie that yet needs to be made.

No questions asked but one: How do you create something this mesmerizing when you cannot even meet in person? Beats me, but TEAM7 did it anyways.
