Meet Rand, 23, - one of our long-term students from Syria.
Question: How long have you stayed in Germany and how have you liked it so far?
Rand: I have been living in Germany for 6 months. German language is really hard but on the other hand very rewarding. People have welcomed me warmly. I find German people nice and polite. There is nothing that has bothered me
Question: What are your future plans?
Rand: I want to improve my German skills further to apply for a Master degree in construction engineering. After my Master’s degree I would like to find a good job here in Germany. Certainly, I will go back to Syria for holidays, but I'm not sure yet if my long-term plan is to stay here in Germany. It depends on many factors, such as my career possibilities here.
Question: How long have you been studying in Kunnasberg?
Rand: I have been studying now for over 5 months. I started from the A1-level and now I'm doing B2.2. Next month I want to continue with C1.
Question: Have you enjoyed Germany more after learning German? Has something changed?
Rand: Generally, life is slightly easier. It is easier to do grocery shopping or to visit an office when you share a common language. I think it is also easier to find German friends once you learn the language. Now I'm able to understand the street advertisement and catch some information from the television or radio. But well, understanding people on the street or in the tram can be quite hard if they a local dialect.
Question: Have you enjoyed studying in Kunnasberg?
Rand: Yes, very well. I like the teachers here and I'm having fun learning German. The teachers explain the grammar rules very well. I enjoy coming here every morning. I like the small size of groups because we have a lot of time to talk with each other.
Question: Would you recommend Kunnasberg to your friends?
Rand: Of course. Everyone who wants to learn German should come to Kunnasberg.
