In November 2024, we reported on GJU alumnus Adnan Bilbeisi and his participation in the German Bundestag’s International Parliamentary Scholarship (IPS).
Since then, he has set up his own company, . Almost two years later, we spoke to him again to find out more about his journey to becoming a founder.
“The internship in the office of Bundestag Vice President Aydan Özoğuz taught me the importance of finding common ground with people who have different opinions. By talking to politicians and Members of Parliament from different parties, I learned how to identify shared interests and work towards solutions that benefit everyone involved.” Adnan revealed in the interview that he still uses this approach today in meetings with clients.
Adnan currently works as a sales manager at ‘Dar Al-Manhal’ in Amman, whilst at the same time building up his own company, ‘Arab Closers’ – a response to the high staff turnover in the sales sector.
Arab Closers is a platform that connects companies with vetted sales professionals from across the MENA region.

GHORFA - BUILDING BRIDGES FOR INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION
From 16 to 19 June, our Corporate Relations Manager Lisa Westphal from the GJU Project Office at Hochschule Magdeburg-Stendal attended the Business Forum of the Ghorfa Arab-German Chamber Of Commerce and Industry in Berlin. She was joined by the President of the German Jordanian University (GJU), Prof. Dr Alaaldeen Al-Halhouli, the Vice-President for International Affairs, Prof. Dr Ralf Roßkopf, and the Coordinator for Industrial Relations, Dr Jamal Al Qundus.
One statement from Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Katharina Reiche particularly resonated: “A friend is known in hardship.” In light of the current geopolitical challenges facing Jordan and the wider region, this message underlines the importance of strong international partnerships – and the relevance of our binational education project.
The forum provided an encouraging platform to engage with dedicated stakeholders committed to strengthening German-Arab cooperation. Many discussions highlighted a shared understanding: sustainable collaboration is key to attracting international skilled workers, while also fostering trust, mutual understanding, and long-term opportunities.
A special highlight was the panel discussion in which Prof. Dr Ala’aldeen Al-Halhouli emphasized the unique role of GJU as a bridge between Germany and the Arab world. GJU students begin their Germany Year with at least a B1 level of German and benefit from intensive linguistic and intercultural preparation at a language centre with around 90 staff members. This strong foundation significantly supports their academic and professional integration in Germany.
For Lisa Westphal, the forum once again demonstrated that, despite ongoing challenges, it is essential to continue the dialogue and actively shape international partnerships.
Our sincere thanks go to His Excellency Fayiz F. Khouri, Ambassador of Jordan to Germany, and to Mr Al-Wadoud Yassin from the Amman Chamber of Industry for the valuable exchange. We also extend our gratitude to Ghorfa for the excellent organisation of the forum.
👉Interested in becoming a bridge-builder?

AgriHexa for Smart Farming – 🥳Congratulations on winning first place in the ‘Open Scientific Projects’ category at the World Robot Caspian Cup 2026
The students from the German Jordanian University – Mahmoud Abu Hamda and Abdul Rahman Al-Shoubki (Computer Engineering students) and Abdullah Abu Zahia (Mechatronics Engineering student) – impressed the judges with their AgriHexa project, supervised by Dr Mahmoud Al-Saraira and engineer Dima Zeidan.
🤖A robot that could revolutionise the agricultural sector:
The GJU students have developed an autonomous six-legged robot that operates precisely where conventional machines reach their limits: in mountainous, uneven and hard-to-reach areas.
Using AI, computer vision, and aerial and satellite imagery, the robot analyses the terrain in real time, independently selects the optimal route and remains stable on difficult terrain.
An integrated smart planting module automatically dispenses seeds at the most suitable locations – for more efficient agricultural processes, greater sustainability and new prospects for food security.
