Reading and Discussion with Mirrianne Mahn – “Issa” (Rowohlt, 2024)

Thursday, November 20, 6 p.m.
Stadtmuseum MĂĽnster

An event in the program accompanying the Themenraum Kolonialismus at the Stadtmuseum MĂĽnster ( ).

The event will take place in German. Admission is free.

It has been more than 100 years since the German colonization of Cameroon. Mirrianne Mahns’ debut novel “Issa” makes it clear just how little time that is. To appease her mother, the pregnant Issa travels from Frankfurt am Main to Buea. Her experiences and encounters there remind her of what the history of the country and her family mean to her.

Organization: Rita Maricocchi, M.A. (English Department, PTTS) and Eva Tanita Kraaz, M.A. (German Department).

Cooperation and funding by Afrikanische Perspektiven, e.V. ( ), and Universitätsgesellschaft, e.V. ( )
