In an autorotation, RPM control is everything. And the key is to control your RPM, not chase it.

Why do we instructors prefer to keep the RPM on the lower side, below 100%, instead of the upper side?

Real life SAR exercise with a lost comm simulation of a 6 helicopter formation. Mönchengladbach Tower called SAR RCC Münster when comm was lost and the SAR H145 was sent airborne from its military base 50 nm SW to find the formation and make sure it has normal ops. Awesome performance by SAREX63 and its crew and an amazing experience for the students of Heli NRW. Thanks for the invitation
