At , Radia Perlman and Charlie Kaufman will take participants from the basic building blocks of cryptography to secure network communication, RSA, blockchain, side-channel attacks, and the impact quantum computers could have on today’s security. 🛡️

You’ll also explore Shor’s algorithm and discover how post-quantum algorithms could protect public-key cryptography in a quantum future. And the best part: no previous background is required, just intellectual curiosity. 🤓

Radia and Charlie bring decades of groundbreaking experience in networking and security and are co-authors of the textbook "Network Security: Private Communication in a Public World".

In our latest interview, Dr. Sönke Magnussen, one of the curators of the Advanced Level Module , explains what software architects need to know when designing systems with AI components.

From and to interfaces and production monitoring, SWARC4AI bridges the gap between modern AI technologies and . Combining theory with practical case studies, the module helps software architects understand while giving AI experts a deeper understanding of architecture. 💡

In this short interview, Sönke discusses:
✅ How AI components change the way software systems are designed
✅ How LLMs can be integrated into existing software architectures
✅ Architectural challenges of AI agents, multi-agent systems & MCP
✅ What probabilistic behavior, data, deployment & monitoring mean for architecture
✅ Why software architects and AI experts can benefit from learning from each other

𝗔𝗚𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗔 𝘃𝘀. 𝗦𝗪𝗔𝗥𝗖𝟰𝗔𝗜: 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲? 🤖 We’re excited to have just added AGENTA, our brand-new Advanced Level module, to the curriculum! 🥳 But with two modules now focusing on and , you might be wondering: Which one is right for me?

Are you developing with AI, or are you building a system that contains AI? or : Which training is right for whom? 🤔

🔸 𝗔𝗚𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗔 is designed for anyone who 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗰𝗼𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 and wants to maintain 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝘀𝗼𝗳𝘁𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲. After the three-day training, you will be able to structure your architectural knowledge so that agents can use it. You will build a harness that enforces architectural decisions for generated code, extract architectural information from existing systems, and learn how to establish organizational practices for traceability, data protection, and the security of generated code.

🔹 𝗦𝗪𝗔𝗥𝗖𝟰𝗔𝗜 is designed for anyone 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗔𝗜. You will integrate ML models and components into existing system landscapes, design data pipelines, plan operations and monitoring including model drift, evaluate RAG approaches, and classify systems according to the EU AI Act. Basic knowledge of Python is required.

There are clear boundaries in both directions. 𝗔𝗚𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗔 does not turn you into an ML engineer: topics such as model training, feature engineering, and MLOps are not covered. And 𝗦𝗪𝗔𝗥𝗖𝟰𝗔𝗜 is not designed to keep your coding agents under control. ☝

Both training courses provide Credit Points toward becoming a 𝗖𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝗼𝗳𝘁𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 (𝗖𝗣𝗦𝗔) 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗱. AGENTA awards 20 methodological and 10 technical Credit Points, while SWARC4AI awards 10 methodological and 20 technical Credit Points.

The German original of this comparison was written by Niklas Trentmann from embarc. Many thanks for letting us translate and share it! 🙏
