ITK Internationaler Trainerkurs Leipzig

Alle Lehrveranstaltungen werden dabei in vier Sprachen gedolmetscht – englisch, französisch, arabisch und spanisch.

Der Internationale Trainerkurs (ITK) ist ein Weiterbildungsstudium für Trainer:innen und Sportlehrer:innen aus Entwicklungsländern an der Universität Leipzig und gefördert vom Auswärtigen Amt und Freistaat Sachsen (SWMK). Die Sportwissenschaftliche Fakultät der Universität Leipzig organisiert Internationale Weiterbildungskurse für Trainer:innen und Sportlehrer:innen aus Entwicklungsländern. Gefördert werden die Kurse vom Auswärtigen Amt der Bundesrepublik Deutschland und seit 2021 zusätzlich vom Land Sachsen über das Sächsische Staatsministerium für Wissenschaft, Kultur und Tourismus. Ebenso wird den Teilnehmenden eine umfassende Betreuung geboten. Fünf Monate dauern die Internationalen Trainerkurse (ITK). Anschließend kehren die Teilnehmer:innen in ihre Heimatländer zurück. The Sports Science Faculty of the University of Leipzig organizes International Coaching Courses of further education for coaches and teachers of physical education from developing countries. The courses are funded by the Federal Foreign Office of the Federal Republic of Germany. In addition, the Saxon State Ministry of Science, Cultural Affairs and Tourism has been funding ITK since 2021. All classes of the course are being translated into four languages – English, French, Arabic and Spanish. Moreover we offer the participants a comprehensive support. The International Coaching Courses (ITK) have a duration of 5 months. Afterwards the students return to their home countries. With this they offer perspectives in sports and also transfer their acquired knowledge to other people.

The Leipzig Bewegung-KOMM!Pass is a sports activity day organized by the Leipzig City Sports Association (Stadtsportbund Leipzig e.V. ), giving primary school children the opportunity to playfully discover and try out a wide variety of sports.

Once again this year, the Kids’ Sports course took part in the event and had the opportunity to experience the lively activities at the different stations. Thanks to our cooperation partner, the Stadtsportbund Leipzig, our students were able to see first-hand how children can be inspired to get involved in sport and also had the chance to try out the different activities themselves.
A big thank you to the Stadtsportbund for providing us with this valuable and insightful experience!

One month into the ITK Football Course… here’s a look at what our participants have been up to 👀⚽

1. 📚 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐨𝐫𝐲
Throughout the first month, participants took part in a variety of theoretical sessions. In one of the modules, led by Markus Danz, they explored topics including training philosophy in Germany and gained insights into different approaches to football coaching.

2. 🏋️ 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡 & 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠
Together with course instructor Lukas Heinrich, participants headed to the gym to put training theory into practice. The sessions focused on essential principles of strength and conditioning and their application within football training.

3. ⚽ 𝐅𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐛𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞
Of course, no football coaching course would be complete without time on the pitch. On our Jahnallee campus, participants translated theory into practice through hands-on football sessions, exchanging ideas, testing exercises and further developing their coaching skills together.

And throughout the course, our interpreter Uta Hecker is right there with the group, ensuring that language is never a barrier ☺️

Thank you, City of Leipzig, for the warm reception at the New Town Hall! 🏛️

On Monday, our ITK participants had the opportunity to visit Leipzig’s New Town Hall, where they were welcomed with a reception followed by a guided tour through the building and some impressive views and insights along the way.

A special thank you to Katja Büchel, Head of the Office for Sport of the City of Leipzig, for welcoming our participants and taking the time to meet them. We truly appreciate the long-standing connection between the ITK and the City of Leipzig and the opportunity to introduce our international participants to the sport-loving and hospitable city that hosts them during their time with us.

✨ A warm welcome to our ITK 2026 participants!

On Monday, 3 August, we officially welcomed participants from 33 countries here in .

The opening session was led by ITK Project Leader Dr. Anton Behrens and Alumni Coordinator Simone Zimmermann. Afterwards, the participants joined a guided tour, giving them the opportunity to explore the faculty and become familiar with its facilities.

This year the following courses are being offered:

✨ Bonnes nouvelles de l’ITK
🇫🇷 Stage de recyclage académique : Football 2027 en Français ⚽️

Ce cours permet d'acquérir des connaissances approfondies et des compétences pratiques pour l'organisation d'entraînements adaptés aux différentes tranches d'âge dans le football. Il met l'accent sur le développement de la technique individuelle ainsi que sur l'enseignement des tactiques de groupe et d'équipe pour des différents niveaux de performance. Les principes méthodologiques de l'entraînement sont immédiatement mis en pratique au sein d'exercices pédagogiques et complétés par des sujets tels que la promotion des talents, l'analyse d'erreurs et la planification d'entraînement. Des contenus sur les structures des clubs, l'éducation physique à l'école et le football inclusif viennent compléter le programme.

Durée du cours : Juin 2027 - Décembre 2027

🇪🇸 Formación continua académica 2027 : Deporte Infantil Sub 12 en Español 🤸🏻

«Sin base, no hay élite»: nuestra formación se centra en la educación integral, adaptada a la edad y al desarrollo de los niños y niñas de entre 6 y 12 años. Esta misma constituye un requisito previo para poder comenzar luego con un deporte específico. Ponemos mucho énfasis en promover la actividad motora como base de la educación. Por eso, nuestro curso se compone de diversos módulos de actividades de movimiento.
Además de unos intensos estudios académicos, le brindamos impresiones impactantes del día a día de las asociaciones deportivas en Leipzig, involucrandole en nuestro trabajo con las edades formativas. Asimismo, conocerá nuestro sistema educativo, ya que también nos dedicamos a la asignatura de Educación Física en las escuelas primarias.

🇬🇧 Postgraduate On-site course 2027: Sports for the Disabled 👩🏽‍🦽‍➡️
What to expect:
The postgraduate on-site study course at the Sports Science Faculty aims at coaches and PE teachers who are already occupied in the field of sports for people with disabilities or who wish to start working actively in this field. Participants of the ITK course Sports for the Disabled will learn to apply indication-specific training methods, to integrate current developments in Para sports into their training and to develop their own concepts for sports for people with disabilities, based on their knowledge.
Course period: June 2027 - December 2027

Join us for our upcoming online Round Table:

"Creating Engaging Alumni Networks -
From Shared Experience to Active Collaboration"

The Round Table will take place this Thursday (28 May 2026) at 14.00 CET and will be held online via Zoom. The event is organised in collaboration with the ACCESS project and will bring together different perspectives on how alumni networks can become more active, connected, and meaningful over time.

During the session, we will discuss how alumni experiences can be translated into long-term engagement, what alumni expect from future initiatives, and how collaboration within and across alumni networks can be strengthened. Insights from our Alumni Survey will also be included in the discussion.
