"When I drop her off in the morning, it's more like dropping her back home."
That's one mother on our Kindergarten. Another says she loves seeing her son enjoying the same wonderful education she had when she attended LIS.
Small groups, consistent care. Every child known by name from the first morning.

Class of 2026 — IBDP Results
This Monday, our Class of 2026 received their IBDP results. We are incredibly proud of every single one of them.
65 students completed the IB Diploma Programme this year. 88% passed. The average points score was 32.7 — well above the global average. Seven students scored over 40 points, four of then achieving 42 points or above — the equivalent of a 1.0 Abitur.
In Germany, a 1.0 Abitur is the highest grade achievable.
35 students earned the bilingual diploma, which is awarded to candidates who complete and receive a top grade in two languages selected from the IBDP course studies in language and literature.
These are excellent results. But they are only part of the picture.
What the numbers don't show is what two years of the IB Diploma actually does to a young person. The late nights wrestling with a Theory of Knowledge essay. The Extended Essay that taught them what it means to pursue an idea with real rigour. These are skills that no grade can fully capture.
The IB is an experience that shapes who you are. And every student who goes through it comes out more capable, more resilient and better positioned be make positive impacts on the world around them. In short - better able to be a citizen of the world.
To the Class of 2026: you did something genuinely hard and you did it well. We hope you feel as proud of yourselves as we are of you. Enjoy this moment, you have earned it.
To our families, thank you for trusting LIS with something so important.
The IB Diploma Programme is designed to help students make connections, not just collect knowledge.
During the required Collaborative Science Project last week, our Grade 11 Biology, Chemistry and Physics students worked in interdisciplinary teams at Leipzig’s VDI GaraGe STEM Centre to design and build a bridge. Along the way, they discovered how different scientific disciplines complement one another and experienced the power of collaboration in tackling authentic challenges.
Learning like this is what makes the IBDP so distinctive: students don’t just learn science, they learn to think like scientists, together.
🏅 🌟 Beyond the Game: Celebrating our Student-Athletes and Coaches
This week, we gathered to recognize and celebrate the dedication, resilience and achievements of our student-athletes and coaches who proudly represented LIS at GISST tournaments throughout the academic year.
From countless hours of training to intense competition days, our teams demonstrated commitment, teamwork and determination every step of the way. Their efforts have not only led to success on the court, field and track but have also reflected the values that define our community.
✨ The evening was an opportunity to reflect on memorable moments, honor outstanding achievements and celebrate the friendships and experiences that sport creates.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make the event such a success, from the organizers and coaches to the parents who contributed delicious dishes and all those who helped bring our community together for the celebration. 🎉🍽️
To all of our student-athletes and coaches: thank you for representing LIS with pride, integrity and passion. We are incredibly proud of all you have accomplished this year and look forward to seeing what you achieve next. 🌟

🏃♀️🏃🏽♂️ LIS takes on the Firmenlauf Leipzig 2026! 🏃♂️🏃♀️
What an incredible evening at the Leipzig Company Run 2026 🌟
A fantastic team of 22 LIS staff members proudly represented Leipzig International School in the 5 km run. The route led participants from the Festwiese through the Rosental and around the Red Bull Arena, creating the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable community event.
Together with more than 22,000 participants from 970 companies, colleagues from Kindergarten, Hort, Primary, Secondary and Administration came together to celebrate teamwork and the joy of running. With fantastic weather and an amazing atmosphere, it was a wonderful evening for everyone involved.
Events like these remind us that the LIS spirit extends far beyond the classroom. We support one another, challenge ourselves and achieve more together - whether in education or on the running track.
A huge congratulations to all our runners. We are proud of you! 🏅👏
Primary Sports Day ☀️
We couldn't have asked for better weather for this year's Primary Sports Day.
Throughout the morning, classes moved from station to station taking part in all sorts of activities – running tic-tac-toe, hoops, frisbee golf, parachute games and plenty of track and field challenges. Some stations were about speed, some needed good listening, some needed teamwork, and some just needed students to keep trying when things didn't work the first time.
There was lots of running around, but also lots of communication, coordination, resilience and perseverance on display.
One of the nicest things about the day was seeing our Grade 5 students helping out. They supported both the Primary Sports Day and the Kindergarten Sports Day, helping set up stations, move equipment around, record results and generally lend a hand wherever they were needed. They were fantastic role models for the younger students.
That's one of the things we love about LIS. The older students help the younger students, and everyone learns from each other.
This Friday, the Grade 5s get their turn. They'll be heading to Cossi for their own Beach Sports Day, including raft building and other team challenges, as a special way to celebrate their final weeks in Primary.
A big thank you to Uwe and Sabrina for organising the day, and to all of the Primary and Hort staff who helped make it happen.
And now... fingers crossed for the same weather next year! 😎

🔎Some learning experiences stay with you for a lifetime. It's not every day you get to learn from a Nobel Laureate.
This week, our Middle and High School students had the extraordinary opportunity to learn from parent and 🎖️Nobel Laureate Professor Svante Pääbo, whose groundbreaking research on ancient DNA transformed our understanding of human evolution and earned him the 2022 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine.
Through sessions tailored to different age groups, students learned fascinating facts about Neanderthals, human origins, scientific discovery and what ancient DNA 🧬 can reveal about our shared past and current lives. Our High School students also had the chance to engage in a deeper discussion of the research methods and scientific breakthroughs behind Professor Pääbo's work, including how it impacts our lives and health today.
Most inspiring of all was the curiosity students showed asking really thoughtful questions and engaging directly with one of the world's leading scientists. The whole session was moderated by Liesbeth who already showed great skill in this forum through her organization of the Women in STEM event earlier this year.
A huge thank you to Professor Pääbo for sharing his time and passion for discovery with our community. And to Dr McIvor for organising the event!
Last weekend, the KÖ Street Festival brought together families, neighbors, and local organizations for a vibrant celebration of community life. At LIS, we were delighted to host an Indian Street Food Festival in our schoolyard, welcoming visitors of all ages to experience the rich flavors, traditions, and spirit of Indian culture.
The event reflected the values that are at the heart of our school community: international-mindedness, belonging and connection. Through shared experiences, conversations and food, families from diverse backgrounds came together to celebrate what unites us and to strengthen the sense of community that makes LIS such a special place.
It was wonderful to see everyone enjoying the lively atmosphere, building new connections and experiencing firsthand the welcoming and inclusive spirit of our school. We thank everyone who joined us and helped make the day such a memorable celebration of diversity, belonging and community.
Proud is an understatement! 🏐🔥 Our U14 Volleyball team traveled to St. George’s International School in Duisburg and absolutely crushed it!
The squad showed incredible character, unmatched teamwork, and amazing skills that kept everyone cheering from the sidelines. You represented our school in the best way possible, both on and off the court. Way to go, team! 🔴⚫️⚪️
