Short‘n‘sweet – With coming up we gathered for the first time this year. For lunch, we had a brain-teasing quiz as a side dish followed by delicious cake. Our next events are already in the making-off to a promising 2020!

We are proud to announce that Prof. Dr. Claudia Lehmann has accepted her first professorship for digital innovation in service industries. As HHL‘s first professorship in this field, the objective is to develop methods and tools to turn innovative technologies into useful applications and translate them to new digital business models.

As the year comes to an end, Women@HHL took the opportunity to reflect on an eventful year 2019 with the annual Christmas get-together. In a cozy atmosphere, female HHL students and staff members joined us to enjoy a cup of mulled wine and various sweet Christmas delights. We are grateful for all the interesting conversations and for the many inspiring ideas that were discussed for 2020.

We would like to thank all Women@HHL supporters, sponsors, guests and speakers, who accompanied us throughout 2019. We are looking forward to new inspiration, exciting events and everything that the upcoming year will bring for us!

EVENT // Women Entrepreneurship Week - Panel Discussion and Pitch Contest

Last week, Women@HHL celebrated together with Die Gründerinnen-Initiative der HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management the international Women Entrepreneurship Week together with more than 200 universities from all over the world. The week was crowned with a closing event on October, 25th with three fascinating female entrepreneurs and investors - Conny Wuppermann, Gwen Schröter and Tanja Bogumil - sharing the stage for a panel discussion moderated by Vivek Velamuri. “I always wanted to be my own boss” said Conny Wuppermann. Now she is CFO and Co-Founder of palero capital, highlighting the importance of a ‘can do’ attitude to be successful.

The three panelists also served as a jury for the following pitch contest. Four start-ups with female founders - Dashbike, Die Frischemanufaktur, Sonoday and Looking For Female Co-Founders - competed in a neck-to-neck race with each other. In the end, we could congratulate Laura Faaß from Sonoday to 500€ to further develop her business.

We are very thankful for this great evening with many interesting personalities and are looking forward to further exciting Women@HHL events coming up.

EVENT // A Weekend of Female Power at HHL

One of the most inspiring weekends is in the books for HHL - Leipzig Graduate School of Management. What marks this weekend as even more inspiring is the fact that all of the exceptional guests were women!

Last Friday, HHL brought together some of the most prestigious women in education (Barbara Kellerman), business (Hiltrud Werner & Gabriele Fanta) and journalism (Karola Wille). After discussing with and learning from this unique panel (moderated by Timo Meynhardt) about diversity and in particular women in leadership positions, we agreed with Hiltrud Werner: “Don’t fix the women, fix the system!”

On Saturday, the weekend finally reached its peak when Chancellor Angela Merkel accepted her honorary doctorate in front of HHL graduates after an incredible laudation by Christine Lagarde. We got to witness two outstanding role models sharing the stage and are inspired by Christine Lagarde’s words “[Our] future is wide open.” Let’s take it from there.

We from Women@HHL are more than encouraged from all these exceptional personalities to continue our work of supporting the women at HHL to empower, connect and excel.

WORKSHOP // „From Ambition to Success“

Today, we had the pleasure of welcoming powerhouse Dr. Jana Leidenfrost (psychologist and leadership coach) for a workshop at . Building on her maxim „The brain runs on fun!“, Jana familiarised us in a humorous and engaging way with different techniques for accessing and fuelling our inner strength. Additionally, she inspired the group of female students and staff members with valuable insights from her deep expertise in sports, psychology and business.

KEYNOTE // Women@HHL in Dresden

Following the kind invitation of Manuela Harken (SAB), Silke Pettkus and Michaela Wrede of WomenHHL had the honor of giving a keynote speech at a networking evening in Dresden. The event was part of the joint event series „Diversity takes the lead“ of Sächsische Aufbaubank, SAP and Itelligence, which aims to connect female leaders from various companies across Saxony and beyond. The keynote highlighted academic and real-life insights on female business networks and sparked fruitful discussions during a subsequent get-together.
