AS YOU REVIEW YOUR 2024
Dear friend, you possibly have commenced reviewing of your 2024. The year, of course, is filled with many ups and downs. As you go on in the process of reviewing while looking forward to 2025....,I have one thing to tell you: Forget the past.
Three things you must forget in your past:
1. Forget your past successes: Thank God, dear sister for getting married in the year, congratulations for the new house, new job, new relationship, and the new car. Oh! Glory to God for the visa....but please forget all these and look forward to greater things
2. Forget your past Failures: I understand that you didn't plan it that way but it happened ..... yes, the heart break, the rejection at embassy, disappointment from your loved ones, loss of loved ones or properties, job loss, exam failure, business downturn etc. Let these be in your past and move on with new vision and vigour to the new year
3. Your past sins: One greatest disservice you can do to yourself is to allow you past misconducts to tie you down. Yes, you have aborted....., you were involved in unholy relationship, despite your desire to quit, you still.found yourself in extra- marital affairs, my dear sister....free yourself from the quit and let them be in your past.
Why?
(a) No one keeps looking back and gets to destination (otherwise, accidents are non-negotiable)
(b) Remembering the past will hinder you from seeing the possibilities and opportunities in the new year
(c) God wants to do much more better thing for you in the year to come than what he has done for you -all put together in the this year.
(d) Mercies of God are new everyday....even if you have committed the greatest sin, new mercy will find you.
(e) Dwelling in the past is tantamount to using an outdated curriculum.
The only thing you need to do is to learn from your past and then move on. There is always a lesson to learn, positive or negative that will resharpen how you handle your new year. Pick the lesson and focus on what lies ahead for better relationship, better life, better job, better opportunities, better marital partner than the one that broke your heart this year and stronger relationship with God.
That wedding will happen, your children will come, your job is around the corner, that visa application will be approved, and ultimately that testimony will come.
Focus on God and walk with him
Let me conclude by this piece of Prof. Greg Erhabor....." Out of the broken piece of your past, God can build edifice of hope"
