🚗✨ Need a ride? In British English, we don’t say “Can you give me a ride?” — we say “Can you give me a lift?.”

It’s one of those little everyday expressions that makes your English sound instantly more natural.

👉 Here are some more examples:

“Could you give me a lift to the station after the meeting?”

“She gave her colleague a lift to the conference.”

“I usually give my manager a lift when we travel to see clients.”

“He offered to give me a lift to the airport for my business trip.”

Tell us in the comments ⬇️ where you’d need a lift to!

In English, when we talk about food, like this delicious roast dinner, “all the trimmings” means all the extra delicious sides—like roast potatoes, vegetables, gravy, cauliflower cheese… everything! 😋

And, although we often use this expression with food, you can also use it in other situations:

✅ Their son’s birthday party had all the trimmings—music, games, and even a magician!

✅ She wanted a luxurious vacation with all the trimmings: a private beach, spa treatments, and gourmet meals.

Have you had a traditional roast dinner in Britain? Did you have all the trimmings? Let us know in the comments below. 🇬🇧😋🍴

✨ Friday English = Film Fun! 🎬🇬🇧 + Language Tip! 🗣️👌🏻

This stunning building is Burghley House — better known to Pride & Prejudice fans as Rosings Park, home of the formidable Lady Catherine de Bourgh! 😲💬

📚 Whether you’re here for the English, the history, or the drama… there’s always something charming about classic British period films.

Would you dare to correct Lady Catherine’s grammar? 😅

📚 🎩 Language Tip from Pride & Prejudice:

Ever notice how characters say things like:

👉 “I am most exceedingly gratified by your visit.”
or
👉 “You are too kind, madam.”

💡 This is very formal, polite English — common in 19th-century speech (and still useful today in emails or formal situations!)

But, try these modern versions for more everyday situations:

✅ “Thanks so much for coming by.”

✅ “That’s very kind of you.”

Same meaning — just more natural for everyday English!
