Two festivals, two completely different ways of celebrating culture!
La Tomatina, Spain — a wild, colorful tomato fight where thousands of people come together for one unforgettable experience. 🍅❤️
La Biennale di Venezia, Italy — a world-famous celebration of contemporary art and culture, bringing artists and visitors from around the globe to Venice. 🎨

From throwing tomatoes in the streets of Spain to exploring groundbreaking art in Venice, these festivals show how diverse and exciting international culture can be. 🌎

Obon is a Japanese Buddhist annual event, mostly celebrated from August 13 to 16 (according to the lunar calendar), while a minority of people celebrate it in mid-July (according to the solar calendar). The Obon week in mid-August is one of Japan’s three major holiday seasons (alongside New Year and Golden Week), although it is not an official national holiday. It is accompanied by extensive domestic and international travel, as well as increased accommodation rates, as people travel to reunite with their families.

The light festival, known in German as the Schlosslichtspiele, features video mappings projected onto and interacting with the façade of Karlsruhe Palace 🏰✨ Through interactive games 🎮 and motion-based installations💃, visitors become part of the choreography conceived by the artists. And the best part: the event is totally free! As a thriving IT hub, Karlsruhe considers culture and creativity to be important economic drivers, a fact reflected in this annual light festival 🎉

In June, we celebrated the 20th anniversary of our partnership with the University of Botswana (UB). It was an honor to welcome a delegation from UB. We had a wonderful time exchanging stories and experiences and mingling over drinks and snacks at the ceremony!

The International Evening 🥳🎉 is our annual event in which international exchange students share insights into the customs and traditions of their home countries. In addition, the students prepared traditional dishes from their countries, allowing us to create an international buffet.

Anniversary of the RPTU–Botswana Cooperation 🎉
On 17 June, the anniversary event celebrating our 20-year cooperation with the University of Botswana took place in the conference room at RPTU in Landau.
The event focused on mutual exchange, the successful collaboration of the past years, and new perspectives for the further development of the partnership.
We were especially pleased to welcome Dr Sicks, Secretary General of the DAAD, and to exchange with Vice President Prof. Frör. Their participation reflects the great appreciation for this partnership and sends a strong signal for the importance of international cooperation and global networks at RPTU.
We look forward to continuing this successful collaboration and jointly developing new ideas and initiatives.
