After a successful project run and an amazing closing event, we’re excited to share the students‘ election predictions! Huge thanks for the fantastic collaboration and the many creative projects that emerged. We can’t wait to see how the results unfold in the USA on November 5th!

Dear Teachers,
We are thrilled to announce that almost 400 classes have already registered for the course, and we’d like to remind you that there’s still time to sign up if you haven’t done so yet!
We also want to take this opportunity to highlight a few important points:
Participation in Surveys: Please don’t forget to take part in both the entry and final surveys. Your feedback is essential to ensure the project continues to grow and improve in the future.
Student Competition Deadline: You and your students can participate in the student competition by submitting creative entries until Monday, October 21, 2024, at 11:59 PM CEST.
State Vote Predictions: Make sure to submit your class’s predictions for your state’s vote by midnight on October 21.
Results Presentation Event: We would also like to invite everyone to the results presentation on October 23 at 4 PM. The event will be moderated by Mark J. Rozell, Dean of the Schar School of Policy and Government at George Mason University, and can be accessed via Zoom using the details below:

Part 1: Input “The current state of the 2024 U.S. election” (Courtney Flynn Martino) with Q & A

Courtney Flynn Martino will give insights into the current state of the 2024 U.S. election, informed by her experiences speaking with voters on the primary trail in Iowa, South Carolina, and Georgia. She will also discuss major issues driving the campaigns, such as the economy, youth voters, demographic change, and election security, which she covers regularly with experts on the Bertelsmann Foundation’s U.S. election podcast, “Beyond the Ballot.” Finally, Courtney will discuss how Americans are feeling in advance of the election, and what to expect at the polls in November.

Courtney Flynn Martina is Senior Manager of Transatlantic Relations at Bertelsmann Foundation North America, managing a portfolio including the Transatlantic Barometer policy platform and conducting research on the U.S.-German relationship, with a focus on eastern Germany. She holds a M.A. in German and European Studies and a Certificate in Diplomatic Studies from the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University and a double B.A. in German and Classical Studies from Wake Forest University.

Part 1: Input “Demographic Change and the Transformation of U.S. Politics and Government" by Mark J. Rozell with Q & A

The focus of this presentation is on how rapid population change will transform US politics and the implications for the political parties and public policies. Prof. Rozell will place this discussion within the context of the current presidential election.

Mark J. Rozell is the founding dean of the Schar School of Policy and Government at George Mason University. He holds the Ruth D. and John T. Hazel Chair in Public Policy. He is the author or coauthor of 13 books and editor of 20 additional books on various topics in U.S. government and politics, including the Presidency, religion and politics, media and politics, southern politics, and interest groups in elections. He has testified before Congress on executive privilege issues and has lectured extensively in the U.S. and abroad. In recent years, he has lectured in Austria, Belgium, China, Denmark, England, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Macau, Poland, Scotland, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, and Vietnam. Rozell is a contributing writer for the Washington Post. His column on Virginia politics appears in Local Opinions. Since 1994, he has served as a judge for the Gerald R. Ford Award Committee for Outstanding Reporting on the Presidency for the Gerald R. Ford Foundation.
