AATG 2019 Kulmbach

We finally made it back to
JFK. I stayed at the hotel where the few students were staying the night they are all up and around or on their way to the airport.

Parents, you have young men and women you can be proud of. That much I can tell you do sure. Thank you for entrusting them to me for the past 3 1/2 weeks. Your kids made my job extremely easy! Thank you.

In a week or so, and after I get settled at home, I will post a link to more photos from our trip. I took many photos with my phone and many with my real camera. I’ll post those on a blog site and you and the students will have them to look at and enjoy!

The students went to a Kulmbach company called IREKS today. I’ll let you check it out on your own. They are a grocery and food research company. One of the largest employers in Kulmbach.

I was not there. You’ll have to ask your kiddos about the tour.

I had the chance to go to a vocational school today (Berufsschule) and I’ve always wanted to see one, so I took the opportunity.

BUT THIS EVENING... was the schools annual end of the year party. All the students and parents were there (the same place where we had our going away party last night).

And since your students sang so well last night, they were asked by the music teacher to sing “Amazing Grace” again tonight.

They received so much applause from the parents after they sang. The principal came over to me during the applause, shook my hand and thanked me. I told him it’s all the students. Not me. It’s their talent. They organized it all. I only gave them maybe 2 suggestions and I’m not even sure they took my advice!!!

It was great. An encore performance! And the music teacher got up afterwards and said in front of the audience some very kind and congratulatory things to your kids. As well as several thank you’s to the students.

TOMORROW - we leave Kulmbach at 11:30 am. We will take a charter bus/van to the Nuremberg Airport. We will fly to Frankfurt and then on to JFK!

Great music tonight

Today was our last day of classes at school. We had 3 hours together plus another hour with another teacher from the school. We spent my three periods today getting ready for the Going Away Party tonight.

Everything went great. All the host families, the brothers and sisters as well as the Americans were all there. LOTS AND LOTS of good food, steaks, bratwurst, breads, salads, desserts, etc...

There were some tears as we reach the end. There have been some really good relationships and friendships that have come out of this group and this exchange. Not only among the Americans but also among the Americans and the German families and friends.

Many of your children are outstanding singers! They did a great job entertaining the parents and families tonight.

Things hardly slow down here even in the last days. I’ve fallen behind. Yesterday we were in Regensburg. On the Danube River. Cathedral, Haus of Bavarian History (Brand new museum that just opened last month!), great views of the Danube, good food, good shopping!
