*She's not crying again, is she?!*
I may have shed just a couple of tears ;-) Because as I finish preparing my last High Flyers English classes for this year, I'm reflecting on how much I have loved running these groups for primary school children over the past 3.5 years.
Some children have been with me from day one, and are about to embark on their own new adventures at secondary school. Others I have only had the pleasure of teaching for a term. But every single child has made my life richer by being part of it...and I have enjoyed getting to know them all.
I have loved all of the challenges, the successes, and the feeling that, hopefully, I have managed to help these children boost their confidence when it comes to understanding and speaking English.
I will really miss these classes as I take a break in the Autumn to focus on my German teaching. But I very much hope I will be able to work with some new primary school groups again in the near future.

This family fest is always a lovely place to spend a Sunday afternoon, with plenty of lovely activities for the children including a puppet show and rides on a model train, and lots to eat and drink, in a huge park.
And you can always carry on to the Taunabad outdoor pool to cool off, afterwards!

Der Orscheler Sommer naht! Wir freuen uns riesig, dass wir, der Kunstgriff e.V. Oberursel und das städtische Kinderhaus euch in diesem Jahr wieder zu unserem Kinder- und Familienfest einladen können. Freut Euch auf einen Nachmittag voller Spaß, Spiel und guter Laune. Euch und Eure Kinder erwarten jede Menge spannende Aktivitäten und Attraktionen. Tolle Neuigkeiten - es sind Plätze frei in unseren Englischkursen für Kinder der 4. Klasse. Genau noch rechtzeitig vor dem Schulwechsel, können die Kinder das bisher Gelernte festigen, sich gedanklich auf die 5. Klasse vorbereiten, und natürlich dabei viel Spaß haben!
In kleinen Gruppen von max. 10 Kindern wird gesprochen, gespielt, gelesen, geschrieben, und vor allem das Selbstbewusstsein aufgebaut.

Great News - there is an English-speaking Monday morning playgroup at the Familientreff e.V. Oberursel again! A lovely mum who used to attend our playgroup has arranged this weekly group to ensure parents still have a place to meet and enjoy easy conversation in English while their young children play.
All you need to do is sign up and become a member of the Familientreff - see the website (comments) for all the details.
This is an amazing example of how our international network works, supporting each other.

This second-hand sale in Oberursel-Oberstedten on Saturday afternoon - with the children's clothes sorted by size etc. - is a great place to stock up the kids' wardrobes for autumn & winter, or help Santa do some early book / toy shopping;)

Unser Herbstbasar findet wieder statt. Am Samstag den 27.09.2025 von 13.00 Uhr bis 15.00 Uhr in der Taunushalle in Oberursel.

Junge Eltern mit Kindern bis 1 Jahr sowie Schwangere können unter Vorlage des Mutterpasses bzw. U-Heft schon ab 12.00 Uhr alles in Ruhe durchstöbern.

Ihr findet Kleidung, bis Größe 140/146, Spielzeug, Bücher und Zubehör.

Today's International Breakfast at the Familientreff e.V. Oberursel was a huge success, with regulars mingling with newcomers over a delicious buffet brunch, exchanging numbers, sharing information about parenting in Germany, and enjoying watching their children play together in the playroom.

International Breakfast - hosted by Nests & Wings - friday 19th September

Craving contact with other parents? Would you love someone to serve you breakfast?
Then come along to the International Breakfast at the Familientreff family centre in Oberursel! The table is laid with delicious food, all you have to do is turn up, eat, and enjoy meeting other moms and dads and their little ones in a lovely relaxed atmosphere. After we’ve eaten, there is still plenty of time to talk and let the children explore in the playroom. It’s a great place for you and the babes to make new friends.

You deserve a treat, and as well as giving you a morning off from preparing and clearing up from breakfast, the International Breakfast is a great opportunity to get to know the Familientreff and Clare from Nests & Wings, who runs Mummy & Me groups here in English on Wednesdays. Clare is also happy to answer any questions you might have about parenting and the German system.

Our High Flyers English classes resume today. Lots of familiar faces, and some new ones - I can't wait to have lots of fun helping the children fall in love with the English language! It really is true that we learn better through play.
Now it's time to turn on the laminator, sharpen the coloured pencils, fill the snack tin, and prepare my beautiful new Wrendale thermos mug for use...four classes back-to-back requires sustenance!
