Cultural Events and Technical Coordinator

* Organizing, maintaining, and managing the event location, including event setup and follow-up
* Planning and running events with the AStA Keller team — from relaxed study sessions to large parties
* Supporting event operations (e.g. bar shifts, entrance control, awareness team)
* Maintaining and servicing technical equipment, including live sound systems (mixing consoles, amplifiers, DJ equipment, etc.)
* Setting up and dismantling technical equipment for events
* Assisting with potential new technical purchases
* Serving as a contact person for student councils and the university regarding technical support and event implementation
* Collaborating closely with the editorial/media team and other departments
* Regular participation in team meetings

* Ability to respond quickly and effectively to unexpected challenges
* Independent working style and problem-solving skills
* Empathy, enjoyment in working with people, team spirit
* Basic understanding of analog and digital technology, and interest in sound and lighting technology
* Experience in event planning, hospitality, event management, or event technology is an advantage — but not required; willingness to learn is equally welcome
* Hands-on mentality — you’re not afraid to get involved when needed
* Willingness to work weekends and late nights

🚲 Hochschule Niederrhein is now launching nextbikes in Krefeld! ✨

From now on, the bikes are available to everyone in Krefeld.
Students & staff of Hochschule Niederrhein can even ride for free:

✅ In Mönchengladbach, Krefeld & all nextbike systems across NRW
✅ Up to 60 minutes free per rental
✅ Then park the bike at a virtual station & start another 60 minutes for free

👉 Prior registration with a .hn.de or -niederrhein.de email address at nextbike is required.

📍 As part of a pilot project in Krefeld (until the end of August), nextbike is providing 40 Smartbike 2.0 bikes in Krefeld:

* in Krefeld-West
* twice at Campus South
* at Bahnhof Süd
* at the Future Work Lab

The pilot runs until the end of August – by then, we need to secure long-term funding. Currently, the student body in Krefeld covers the majority of the costs, with Hochschule Niederrhein also contributing. In return, the university is advertised on the bikes. Since 2023, the AStA board has been in talks with Mayor Frank Meyer about the success of the rental system in Mönchengladbach.

🚴‍♀️ Why it’s worth it:
The General Students’ Committee (AStA) has been advocating for the rental system since 2019.

📊 2024: Over 24,000 rentals by HSNR students in Mönchengladbach
🏅 2025: 3,810 km in the City Cycling campaign → Gold award for HSNR
🚴 2025: Founding of the HSNR cycling group

Students at Hochschule Niederrhein already actively use and greatly appreciate the bike-sharing service at the Mönchengladbach campus. 🎉

That’s why we will continue working to establish a permanent bike-sharing system with more bikes and stations in Krefeld — for a mobile, flexible city where students and university staff can quickly get from A to B. 💚
