In September 2026, conference, workshop and presentation round-up:

- Regine Eckardt is giving a keynote lecture at the Linguistics Association of Great Britain Annual Conference, Edinburgh, 8th-10th September 2026. Her talk is titled Frictions at the interfaces: The diachronic development of determiners.
- Marc Meisezahl and George Walkden will also be speaking at the conference, with the title The ing-spiracy: the role of priming in the rise of English -ing-complements. The programme also features Frans Plank and former Konstanzer Aditi Lahiri.
- Clara Fridman will be presenting a talk, Comparing trilinguals', bilinguals', and monolinguals' vocabulary size: Single-Language versus Conceptual Assessment at the 14th International Conference on Third Language Acquisition and Multilingualism on September 4th.

The 31st LFG conference took place in Jaffna, Sri Lanka this year and featured the following talks and posters by members of the department and MA students, plus a workshop on Argument Structure organized by Miriam Butt:
* Tina Bögel: Bulgarian clitics: a computational implementation at the syntax-prosody interface�* Miriam Butt, Ashwini Deo and Benazir Mumtaz: Case Innovation via Goals: Evidence from Indo-Aryan�* Miriam Butt, Kengatharaiyer Sarveswaran, Natalia Villanueva and Francesca Hoffmeier: Morphological vs. Periphrastic Causatives in Tamil�* Mark-Matthias Zymla, Nadine Bade, Kascha Kruschwitz and Piyapath T Spencer: PCDRT-inspired pronoun and presupposition resolution in XLE+Glue��The conference was co-organized by Sarveswaran Kengatharaiyer and Miriam Butt.

August 2026 speaking engagements:

🗣️Clara Fridman will be presenting two talks at the Annual Meeting of the Slavic Linguistics Society in Seoul, South Korea, on Aug 12th-14th, titled Language Attitudes and Practices in the Ukrainian Diaspora” and “Language Shift in the Ukrainian Diaspora.

🗣️ Luise Schwarzer will give a talk at Experimental and Corpus-Based Approaches to Ellipsis (ECBAE 8) at the University of Tübingen, 19th-20th August 2026, with the title The independence of verb-stranding VP-ellipsis and verb-doubling VP-topicalization (joint work with Johannes Hein).

🗣️ Anna Czypionka was invited to give a talk on Processing modal particles: neurolinguistic correlates and theory-building at the Department of German Linguistics at the University of Tübingen on July 1st 2026
