On monday, the exercise SCHNELLER ADLER ended. Around 2.000 personnel were training the evacuation of citizen from a collapsing failed state. The German Navy took part with corvette Braunschweig (F260), three Sea King helicopters and at least one Sea Lynx helicopter. Several German Navy speed boats helped the simulated evacuation with transport to HNLMS Rotterdam, which was also participating.

Many vessels were underway, specially in the Baltic Sea but also in all four NATO groups. We published the Annual Report of the German Navy Fleet Tracker for 2021 with a preface by Captain Thorsten Bobzin, Commander of the German Naval Aviation.
With the report, you can learn about all the missions and exercises of the German Navy during 2021. There is a special chapter about the Indopacific Deployment and an overview of the German Navy Fleet.

Last week, frigate Bayern (F 217) returned from its Indopacific Deployment. We followed the great work of the frigate and her crew during the last months. You can now recap the whole journey at our website.
At the same time, Minehunter Bad Rappenau (M 1067) arrived in the Mediterranean where she will join SNMCMG2. After uniting with the the other vessels of the group, they will head into the Black Sea.

The last weeks, we were quite busy working on the annual Fleet Tracker Report for 2021 which will be published shortly with a preface by the commander of German Naval Aviation, Captain Bobzin.

The second week of 2022 is now online. A slow rise in vessel numbers can be detected compared to the first week of 2022, where most units where still at their home port.
While sailing towards Sri Lanka, frigate Bayern conducted a PUBEX with the Republic of Singapore Navy and a PASSEX with the Royal Malaysian Navy.

Check out this week´s Fleet Tracker (Week 48/2021) to find out what the German Navy has been up to lately. While the year is coming to an end, the Navy is still pretty active: Frigate Bayern has arrived in South Korea and is now on its way towards Singapur while Sailing Ship Gorch Fock arrived in Lisbon and is now headed towards the Canary Islands. The Training Sailing Vessel Gorch Fock of the German Navy (Bundeswehr) is currently on its first training mission after her refit that started in December 2015. 120 crew members are on board the 53 year old traditional sailing vessel on its voyage to Tenerife with a stop-over in Lisbon. In total, she will be traveling over 10.000 nautical miles before returning to its home port in Kiel in late March 2022.

Weeks 45 & 46 are now online. Last week, the training sailing vessel Gorch Fock left its home port Kiel for its first voyage after the long refit period. Her crew is sailing her towards Tenerife with a stop-over in Lisbon.
At the same time, frigate Bayern was deployed at the UN embargo against North Korea and is currently participating in international exercises with the Australian, Canadian and US Navy, aswell as the Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Forces.

Weeks 43 and 44 of the German Navy Fleet Tracker have been uploaded. Last week, the highest number of vessels & aircrafts of the German Navy have been underway. A total of 38 assets were around, especially in the Baltic and North Sea but also at Standing NATO Maritime Groups or European and UN Task Forces. Meanwhile, the frigate Bayern and her two helicopters arrived at Japan from their last stop in Guam.

Week 42 of the German Navy Fleet Tracker has been uploaded. After a long refit time, the frigate Hessen F221 was seen again around its home port of Wilhelmshaven. At the same time, the minehunter Bad Bevensen M1063 is in its way to release Homburg M1069 for the next six months at SNMCMG1.
