"Where to Kill Melania” — A Security Professional’s Perspective
The following video, reportedly originating from Iran, openly discusses the assassination of Melania Trump. Although its primary purpose may be intimidation, propaganda, or an attempt to apply pressure during political negotiations, security professionals should not simply dismiss it as rhetoric.
From a professional perspective, the video is particularly interesting because it presents elements of pre-operational attack planning. It demonstrates how a potential attacker might use publicly available information, imagery, routines, locations, and other forms of OSINT to begin developing an operational picture of a protected person.
The video also examines possible methods of attack and presents them through polished, easy-to-understand graphics. It is disturbing content, but it also illustrates an important reality: hostile actors do not necessarily require classified intelligence to begin planning. Social media, news footage, public appearances, online photographs, and predictable routines can provide more information than many people realize.
Even when such a threat is primarily intended as psychological warfare, it should serve as a wake-up call. Protection professionals must continuously examine their mission from the attacker’s perspective:
What information are we unintentionally exposing?
Which routines have become predictable?
Where are the surveillance opportunities?
How could an attacker approach the principal without immediately attracting attention?
These are central questions in professional undercover protection.

This video is therefore more than propaganda. For the professional protector, it is a reminder to remain alert, challenge assumptions, think from the adversary’s perspective, and constantly look beyond the obvious.
