Jeffrey Beem-Miller recently defended his PhD thesis "Radiocarbon constraints reveal time scales of soil carbon cycling" at the Leibniz University Hannover. Congratulation to Jeff and his advisors Marion Schrumpf, Susan Trumbore, and Georg Guggenberger!

Mental Health was and is an important topic, especially for doctoral candidates and postdocs!
Therefore, a joint initiative of UNIVERSITÄT LEIPZIG, Universität Jena, Martin-Luther-Universität Halle-Wittenberg, yDiv/iDiv and /UFZ, organizes the Mental Health Awareness Days
from 1 to 3 November.
During these three days, you will find various online offers (most of them in English) to inform and sensitise you on how to cope with demanding or stressful situations during your research. These offers include e.g. relaxation exercises in the mornings as well as a number of short workshops on topics such as resilience, concentration, positive psychology and mindfulness.

Hye In Yang spends her research stay with Prof. Sami Ullah and Dr. Johanna Pihlblad at the University of Birmingham and the Birmingham Institute of Forest Research. Her work involves exploring how chemical composition of root exudates affect soil P mobility, an exciting learning opportunity at the BIFoR FACE experiment site.
