The intensive German B2 course of the FIT-Project traded the classroom for the DuellArena.

Through various challenges and tricky puzzles, the students were able to apply their German skills in a playful way, find solutions together, and of course compete against each other.

The focus was not only on language comprehension and communication, but also on team spirit, cohesion, and lots of fun!

The perfect balance to studying and an amazing teambuilding experience for our international students from the FIT-Project. 💪📚

🌱 Turning agricultural waste into sustainable fertilizers!

How can valuable nutrients from agriculture be reused more efficiently? At Hof University, Dr. Harvey Harbach and his research team are tackling this challenge through the ReKorD project.

Their goal is to transform livestock by-products into organo-mineral fertilizer pellets that are easy to store, transport, and apply. By recycling valuable nutrients, the project aims to reduce dependence on conventional mineral fertilizers while supporting a more sustainable and resource-efficient agricultural system.

🚜 A major milestone has already been achieved: the research team has successfully produced the first fertilizer pellet prototypes in the laboratory, demonstrating the technical feasibility of the concept.

🌍 By advancing regional nutrient cycles and promoting the efficient use of natural resources, Hof University is contributing to a more sustainable and circular agricultural economy.

🌊 Public Science Cleanup Campaign on the Saale River 🌿

On May 31, 2026, the student environmental initiative SUI at Hof University will carry out a cleanup along the Saale River in collaboration with Dr. Harvey Harbach (Institute for Sustainable Water Systems – inwa) and regional partners, including NaturFreunde Hof e.V., the Obere Saale Fishing Association e.V., and the Waste Management Association of the City and District of Hof.

The aim is to actively remove litter from the riverbanks and surrounding areas and send a clear signal for environmental and water protection in the region. ♻️

A key component of the project is its Public Science approach: participants will not only collect waste but also document its type, quantity, and location. This data will later be scientifically analyzed by students in the “Sustainable Water Management and Engineering” program as part of the course “Water Quality and Water Management.”

We look forward to a strong collective effort for a cleaner Saale River!

As part of the President’s visit to India, Hof University signed a new cooperation agreement with Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences in Bangalore.

Like Hof University, Ramaiah University offers degree programs in health sciences, engineering, and business, creating new opportunities for academic exchange and future collaboration.
