🌱 Sign up for our interdisciplinary seminar: Who shapes our food system—and at what cost?
We are happy to announce that together with HCE we are offering another seminar for the upcoming term! Learn more about: “Sustainable Agriculture and Human Health - Exploring the Nexus” together with Prof. Thomas Rausch, Prof. Tabea Bork-Hüffer und Dr. Max Jungmann!
👩🌾 Modern agriculture produces more food than ever, but this has come with serious consequences: monocultures, pesticide use, biodiversity loss, soil degradation and intensive fertilization. Climate change is adding further pressures through droughts, extreme heat and excessive rainfall.
🌽 But the challenges are not only environmental. Agricultural practices and land-use decisions can profoundly affect local communities and livelihoods, while the growing consumption of highly processed food raises important questions about food quality and human health. At the same time, the digital transformation of agriculture is changing relationships between farmers, consumers and their environments.
🌍 In this seminar, we will use concrete case studies to investigate how environmental change, technology, human health and social power relations are interconnected in contemporary food systems. We will also explore promising approaches for changing agricultural practices and creating more sustainable relationships between food production, people and the environment.
