We are launching a new monthly Astronomy Education Research (AER) seminar series in September 2026 as part of our International Capacity-building in Astronomy Education Research (ICAER) project.
ICAER brings together astronomy educators and researchers worldwide with two goals: building a community of AER-literate volunteers centered around our NAECs, and conducting an international comparative research study on how students understand and engage with astronomy.
The seminar series is a core part of our capacity-building work, but the topics will be of broad interest to anyone working at the intersection of astronomy and education research. Sessions are open to all and will be recorded for asynchronous access.
Upcoming Sessions:
· 25 Sep 2026, 12:00 UTC: AER & AER literacy – why, what & how? (Magdalena Kersting)
· 23 Oct 2026, 12:00 UTC: Large-scale comparative research & quantitative methods (Nani Teig)
· 6 Nov 2026, 12:00 UTC: Designing & validating the Astronomy and Science Student Attitudes (ASSA) instrument (Sophie Bartlett)
· 4 Dec 2026, 13:00 UTC: Lessons learned from ROSES (Relevance of Science Education - Second) (Anders Jidesjö and colleagues)
· 29 Jan 2027, 12:00 UTC: Linguistic & cultural considerations in survey research (Saeed Jafari)
If you would like to attend, contribute to a session, or find out more about getting involved in ICAER, please contact [email protected].
