Master of Molecular Plant Science

Master of Molecular Plant Science The Master in Molecular Plant Science is a new consecutive and research-oriented degree program at Hamburg university

The Master of Science in Molecular Plant Science shall be set up as a consecutive and research-oriented degree program. Graduates will have learned molecular biological, physiological, and histological methods and procedures and will be able to apply them in experiments. They will possess the ability to develop hypotheses through problem analysis and using methods learned be able to develop experiments to test these hypotheses. Graduates will be familiar with the current discourse on molecular biological methods and, with their professional knowledge, will be able to contribute to social debate. Consequently, they will be in a position to be able to assess the developments in the area of molecular biology including those within a socio-economic context.

Highly developed seed plants evolved deep root systems that are able to sense Earth's gravity. The 'how and when' of this evolutionary step has, until now, remained unknown. Plant biologists at the Institute of Science and Technology Austria (IST Austria) have identified crucial components and proce...

A proteomics-based protein-protein interaction study has led to the discovery of proteins that interact with a legume receptor that mediates signal transduction from the plasma membrane to the nucleus. This shows how symbiotic signals from symbiotic bacteria are transmitted upon perception, ultimate...

Systems Biology of Plant-Microbiome Interactions (Rodriguez et al., 2019): https://buff.ly/2z6jFGq

To unravel the complex network of genetic, microbial, and metabolic interactions, including the signaling events mediating microbe–host interactions, comprehensive quantitative systems biology approaches will be needed.

Plant proteases play a crucial role in many different biological processes along the plant life cycle. One of the most determinant stages in which proteases are key protagonists is the plant germination through the hydrolysis and mobilization of other proteins accumulated in seeds and cereal grains....

Genome Editing using engineered endonuclease (GEEN) systems has rapidly taken over the field of plant science and plant breeding. So far, Genome Editing techniques have been applied in more than fifty different model plants and crops including main crops like rice, maize or wheat as well as economic...
