🌎 Die diesjährige Jahreskonferenz der Arbeitsgemeinschaft Deutsche Lateinamerikaforschung (ADLAF) befasst sich mit transregionalen Perspektiven auf Demokratie in Lateinamerika. Das GIGA beteiligt sich als Vorstandsmitglied am Programm der Konferenz, die vom 18. bis zum 20. Juni am Iberoamerikanischen Institut (IAI) in Berlin stattfindet.

🔎 So präsentieren die GIGA-Forscher:innen Jonas von Hoffmann und Janaina Maldonado aktuelle Forschungsergebnisse zu den Auswirkungen organisierter Kriminalität auf Demokratien in Lateinamerika.

💬 Mariana Llanos und Bert Hoffmann moderieren ein Panel, auf dem Vertreter:innen des Auswärtiges Amt den Stand neuer Leitlinien der Bundesregierung zu Lateinamerika und der Karibik zur Diskussion stellen.

🚨Job opportunity at the GIGA: We seek to appoint a MECAM Publication Manager / Postdoctoral Research Fellow (m/f/d).

The successful candidate will work in the project MECAM - Merian Centre for Advanced Studies in the Maghreb, funded by the Bundesministerium für Forschung, Technologie und Raumfahrt.
MECAM is a centre for interdisciplinary research and academic exchange based in Tunis operating under its guiding theme “Imagining Futures – Dealing with Disparity”. It is a joint initiative of six German and Tunisian universities and research institutions.

📄 Applications are invited for an 80% position, with a contract until 28 February 2029, starting 1 October 2026. The salary is commensurate with EG 13 TV-AVH / TVöD.
