What a wonderful meeting we had this Monday!
Our club turned 25(!!!) years this Monday, and this event could be witnessed by our dear club members, guests as well as special guests - our Area Director Elke Bövers and our Division A Director Monica.
We heard motivating prepared speeches and great spontaneous table topic speeches. And the winner of the Table Topics session was our guest Andrew!
SAVE THE DATE for our large birthday celebration on the 26th of October - the place will be announced later.
And visit us next week - 17.08.2026 at 19:15 in Kultuladen St. Georg in Hamburg

Today, we're delighted to introduce our Vice President Public Relations, Wenting. 🎉

Wenting first visited First Hanseatic Toastmasters out of pure curiosity. What convinced her to stay wasn't just the opportunity to improve her communication skills—it was the warm, welcoming atmosphere and a community where everyone is encouraged to share their experiences and support each other.

Today, as our Vice President Public Relations, Wenting is passionate about sharing our club's story with the wider community. Through social media, storytelling, and outreach, she hopes to inspire more people to discover the confidence, friendships and personal growth that Toastmasters has to offer.

😊 A fun fact about Wenting

Wenting likes to step out of her comfort zone from time to time—not only on stage but also in everyday life.

During a visit to the Disgusting Food Museum in Malmö, she took on the "Disgusting Bingo" challenge and successfully completed 80% of it! It was a memorable experience that required plenty of courage... and an adventurous palate 😄.



We're excited to have Wenting leading our Public Relations efforts this year and helping more people discover the welcoming community and life-changing opportunities that First Hanseatic Toastmasters offers.

Your club earned the Beat the Clock award! This great message our First Hanseatic Toastmasters club has received this week!

"Congratulations! First Hanseatic Toastmasters Club, added five new, dual, or reinstated members between May 1 and June 30, and has earned the Beat the Clock award!" - was stated in the official email from Toastmasters International.

Great job done by previous club board, including former President Ralph and former (and current) Vice President Membership Marc.

Today, we're delighted to introduce our Vice President Education, Li Ping. 🎉

For Li Ping, joining Toastmasters started with a simple but meaningful goal: to overcome her fear of public speaking. She was looking for a place where she could challenge herself, develop new skills, and enjoy learning alongside a supportive community. She found exactly that at First Hanseatic Toastmasters.

Today, as our Vice President Education, Li Ping is committed to creating an engaging learning environment where every member has the opportunity to grow as a communicator and leader. From planning educational meeting agendas to supporting members on their Toastmasters journey, she helps ensure that every meeting is both inspiring and rewarding.

💡 Li Ping's public speaking tip

Speak slowly, and don't be afraid to pause.

A well-timed pause gives your audience time to absorb your message, keeps them engaged, and makes your words more impactful. Sometimes, what you don't say for a moment can be just as powerful as the words themselves.

😊 A fun fact from Li Ping

One of Li Ping's favourite Toastmasters memories happened when she introduced the Word of the Day during a club meeting.

To everyone's surprise, members embraced the challenge with such enthusiasm that the meeting's Best Speaker managed to use the Word of the Day more than 30 times! It was completely unexpected, filled the room with laughter, and became one of those unforgettable Toastmasters moments that perfectly captured the club's fun and supportive spirit.

We're excited to have Li Ping leading our educational programme this year and helping every member continue to learn, challenge themselves, and become more confident speakers.

What a great meeting we had this Monday!
Despite holiday time our room was full with Toastmasters and guests. We heard 3 great speeches, were honoured to have a Table Topics session hosted by our guest Toastmaster Johanna.
Udara was the winner of the best prepared speech award, and Marc was the best table topics speaker. Congratulations!

When Dasha moved to Hamburg twelve years ago, she was looking for more than just a place to improve her communication skills—she was looking for a community. She found both at First Hanseatic Toastmasters.
She still vividly remembers her very first meeting in May 2014, where a speech delivered by one of our former members, Ulla, left a lasting impression."I remember thinking, 'Maybe one day I'll be able to speak like that.'"

Twelve years later, that journey has come full circle. Dasha now serves as our Club President, dedicated to helping others build the same confidence that inspired her on her first evening at the club.

💡 Dasha's public speaking tip

Feeling nervous before speaking?

Instead of trying to fight the nerves, channel that energy. Dasha recommends a few minutes of light physical exercise—such as 50 sit-ups, a brisk walk, or climbing a few flights of stairs—before your speech. It helps release tension, sharpen your focus, and leave you feeling more energized when you step onto the stage.

😊 A fun fact about Dasha

Although English isn't her native language, it's the language she now feels most comfortable speaking in public. After twelve years at our English-speaking club, giving speeches in English has become more natural than speaking in any other language—a wonderful reminder that confidence grows through consistent practice.

We're grateful to have Dasha leading our club into another exciting Toastmasters year, and we look forward to the inspiration and opportunities for growth that lie ahead.

What a great meeting we had yesterday!
A guest speaker Wesley from Munich (evaluated by LiPing), a Pathways presentation by Ralph (evaluated by Andreas), great Table Topics speeches (winners Ralph and our guest Denis).
Special thanks for Kathleen, who was leading the evening as the Toastmaster of the evening, and the evaluations team Alex, Zakaria and Pooya led by our General Evaluator Udara.
