Unruined History

The idea to visualize heritage sites was conceived during a visit of the temple ruins at Agrigento, Sicily. When looking at the ruins it was hard to imagine what the temples actually would have looked like. That sparked the idea to use modern technology to create a window to the past in order to enhance the experience and learning effect. The UNRUINED HISTORY concept can be adjusted and applied in any city and on any heritage site or urban space. Through the unique mixture of skills and collaboration between local councils, historians, designers, architects and IT professionals it will help facilitate the access to culture and public education in an innovative way. Our applications are a perfect vehicle to capture the young audiences that are digital natives to learn more about their local history. Furthermore generations can come together and exchange their technological and historical knowledge through the use of our applications. Our team has over the past years developed interactive experiences based on Virtual Reality and recently Augmented Reality. With the wide availability of smartphones and tablets today, users are already equipped with powerful devices to tap into new digital experiences. In collaboration with our partners we develop GPS based or completely offline working VR/AR applications with multimedia content. This technology can easily be applied to any heritage location and works directly at the site.
