UWC Robert Bosch College is located in Freiburg and is part of the United World College movement

UWC Robert Bosch College, one of 15 Colleges worldwide, is part of the UWC education movement. The school was founded in 2014 and is located in Freiburg, Germany, at the edge of the Black Forest. 200 students from 90 nations live and learn together for two years, completing the school with the International Baccalaureate (IB). The students are selected through national committees in 140 different countries, irrespective of their financial background. At UWC Robert Bosch College in Freiburg, two-thirds of the students are supported through full sholarships, one-third through partial scholarships.

💙 We’re hiring: School Psychologist (50% part-time)

From January 2027, we are looking for a School Psychologist (m/f/d) to support our students’ social and emotional wellbeing and help them navigate challenges. Working closely with teachers, school leadership and, where appropriate, families and external professionals, you will play an important role in fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

🔎 What we’re looking for:
- A master’s degree in psychology or counselling and at least three years of professional experience
- Strong clinical expertise and experience in individual and group settings
- Experience in crisis intervention and working with people who have experienced trauma
- Excellent interpersonal, intercultural and organizational skills
- Knowledge of support systems and local services
- An understanding of intersectionality in clinical practice
- Excellent English and German skills; additional languages are a plus

Additional therapeutic training is an asset.

📍 Position: 50% part-time
📅 Start date: January 2027
📄 Contract: Initially two years, renewable by mutual agreement

🎶 What a wonderful start to this year’s Kultur in der Kartause!

Last Saturday, Teddy Smith, Paul Broßmer, Julian Höferlin and Will Bartlett brought the Kartause to life with an evening of fantastic live music.

A huge thank you to our wonderful artists and everyone who joined us! Together, we raised €2,000 for our scholarship campaign, helping make a UWC education possible for a young person with refugee experience from the Freiburg region. 💛

We look forward to many more evenings of music, encounters and bringing people together in the Kartause.

📅 Save the date: November 28! The Heim und Flucht Orchester Freiburg will be joining us for our next concert.

🌎 Project Week in action: sustainability, community and environmental responsibility
As part of Project Week, a group of our students travelled to Marseille for a youth-led sustainability initiative focused on taking action for the city’s natural environment.
Working together with Clean my Calanques, the students spent a day collecting litter around the Vieux Port before continuing their efforts in the Calanques. Along the trail, they collected 5.5 kg of waste.

For Aiko, one of the students taking part, the experience was a reminder of how closely our everyday choices are connected to the places around us:
“Standing among those stunning views, it was hard not to notice how directly our everyday habits touch even the most protected landscapes. Civic environmental monitoring doesn’t need to be big to matter. It starts with people showing up.”

A day of hands-on action, learning and teamwork — and a small contribution to keeping Marseille’s beautiful landscapes clean. 🌊☀️

A big thank you to Clean my Calanques for welcoming our students and for the work you do to protect Marseille’s unique landscapes.

🌿 Project Week: first impressions from our first-years

As our first-ever Peace and Sustainability Project Week comes to an end, we’re looking back at some of the experiences that brought our first-year students together over the past few days.

🥾 Together, they headed into the Black Forest, hiking to a campsite where they spent time learning, living and working alongside one another — a chance to step away from the usual routines and connect in a different setting.

💧 Back on campus, students also got their hands dirty digging another pond, helping to increase biodiversity and make our beautiful campus an even richer habitat for plants and wildlife.

🧶 And there was much more: from a string game exploring connections and collaboration, to peacebuilding workshops, food footprinting and other activities encouraging students to think about how we live together and how our choices shape the world around us.

🎷 Last night, all students came together for Collective Reflecting — an evening of exercises, conversations and discussions about their Project Week experiences, interwoven with a live jazz band and guided by improvisation. A new way of creating space to pause, listen and learn from one another.

🌍 And today, students and staff headed out on regional trips, exploring the culture, history and landscapes right on our doorstep.

🏏🌍 From the Vale of Kashmir to the world

Anayat Yousuf was playing cricket in Kashmir when a friend called from the boundary: UWC was on the phone. Did he want to go to Germany?
He said yes. Immediately.

That simple yes became the beginning of a remarkable journey — from Kashmir to UWC Robert Bosch College, then to the United States, and now towards a future in cardiovascular medicine and global service.

At RBC, Anayat discovered a new way of learning: alongside people from different cultures, beliefs and backgrounds, he learned to question, listen, respectfully disagree and take responsibility for others. He also continued a commitment to education and service that had begun in Kashmir, tutoring refugee students in Freiburg and supporting displaced communities in Europe.

Since graduating in 2023, Anayat has continued to turn that commitment into action. At the University of Oklahoma, he has pursued his pre-medical studies while working on peace and education initiatives, including the Kashmir EduPeace Project and an English-language programme for students in Yemen. He has also gained experience in clinical medicine, tissue engineering and health-equity research — and is now undertaking cardiovascular research at the University of Michigan Health.

His ambition? To become a cardiovascular surgeon, practise humanitarian medicine with Doctors Without Borders, and one day build a hospital for his community in Kashmir. ❤️

The boy who ran from a cricket pitch to answer a phone call has not changed. The field has simply widened. And Anayat is still saying yes. ✨

🌍 Project Week is underway!

Our students have set off for a week of learning, discovery and new experiences — with very different adventures ahead.

While our second-years are travelling to destinations across Europe, our first-years are staying closer to home for something new: RBC’s first-ever Peace & Sustainability Project Week. 🌱🕊️

Their week combines outdoor experiences, sustainability projects and peacebuilding workshops exploring topics such as identity and positionality, diversity and equity, responsibility and inclusion, power, and taking action.

They’ll also head out to discover the local area — exploring its history, culture, society, politics and environment, with each trip connected to peace and/or sustainability. And there’s plenty of hands-on learning, too: from group projects to shopping for ingredients and cooking dinner together. 🍳🌿

We wish all our students safe travels, inspiring encounters and plenty of unforgettable experiences along the way! ✨

🎶 Soul, blues and folk in the historic Kartause

On Saturday, 3 October, Kultur in der Kartause opens its new season with a special concert evening featuring Freiburg singer-songwriter Teddy Smith.

With his warm, distinctive voice, authentic songs and energetic live performances, Teddy Smith brings soul, blues and folk to the campus of UWC Robert Bosch College. Joining him are Julian Höferlin on drums and Paul Broßmer on bass. We’re also delighted to welcome Will Bartlett as a special guest. ✨

The evening starts at 8 pm, with admission from 7:30 pm. From 7 pm, our students will also offer short campus tours before the concert. Drinks and snacks will be available throughout the evening.

💛 There is no admission fee. Instead, we invite you to support our scholarship campaign: all proceeds from the evening will go towards a scholarship for a young person with a refugee background, enabling them to study at UWC Robert Bosch College.
