⚽ For the third year in the row, our very own UCF football team – Majors United – competed in the Freiburg Uni-Liga this summer semester.
The season turned out to be the most successful one yet!
Even after a rocky start with two heavy losses, spirits remained high and the team achieved the first-ever Uni-Liga win in UCF history on matchday 3. After some close games including a draw in the following weeks, the team stormed to a huge 5:3 victory on the penultimate matchday, right in the middle of the heatwave. One week later, they concluded the season with a 1:1 draw in a closely contested match against the third-placed team. In the final table, this brought the team to 8 points and 7th place – by far the best season for Majors United yet.
This success was duly celebrated after the last match together with many LAS students and staff that came to support the team. A special thanks to UCF lecturer and unofficial Majors United coach Stoyan Panov who supported the team at the pitch almost every week.
If you’re interested in joining the team for next season, shoot as a message – no football skills required!

Mila Mikalay has shared her research at the conference of the Council for European Studies (CES) at the University College Dublin, which took place on 16-18 June.
She presented a paper on the impact of generative intelligence on students' agency as creators of knowledge, followed by a lively discussion of ways universities and individual lecturers should support students.
In another panel, Mila presented first results from her co-authored research on foreign policy of the European Union and Russia towards central Asia, asking about the impact of the war in Ukraine.
The participation was co-funded by DAAD and UCF.
