I'm anxious. Here comes the slinging books part of my life. It's less than two weeks out from the pub date for The Days When Birds Come Back (January 9th--Hurray, but I'll be talking about myself too much in the coming weeks, so oof, and sorry in advance). I've a got a FEW EARLY COPIES of the novel to give away in exchange for honest reviews on Goodreads or your blog or any social media you might engage in. If you're interested please message me. *Just a note: this book isn't for everyone. It's a sad contemplation of grief and guilt and trauma and living in the past, mixed with the beauty of the natural world (the Oregon coast) and the hope and joy found inside the sky and ocean and birds and the evergreen trees. So yeah, maybe if you've lived a long life and suffered mightily you'll enjoy it. Heh.

Twitters and bloggers and writers out there wondering about the "new personal diary"--Adrianne Kalfopoulou is now offering a class at the Black Forest Writing Seminars this summer called, Writing for Social Media: Blogging and Tweets, Interfaces of the Social & Personal.
"In this course we will be exploring various styles of writing for social media, and reading a wide range of examples of such, from tweets to better known blogs, to the less known participants in the increasingly busy blogosphere. What, for example, is the language of a high profile literary journal's blog (as opposed to their print journal) or Maria Popova's popular tweets and posts on "Brainpickings"? We will also be asking questions about the nature of language that addresses "twitter" responses, or Facebook status updates, the issue of privacy -- where now is the personal diary? -- and consider constructions of personae and aesthetics as we write our own posts on a range of subjects."
